Tips for Your Remote Insurance Agent Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote insurance agent openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your license state and product focus and apply directly before listings fill.
Lead with your license and remote close rate
Remote employers need to know you can work a pipeline independently. List your active state licenses upfront and quantify results from phone or video-based sales and service, even if your prior role was not fully remote.
Build an async communication sample
Remote insurance teams run on written communication. Prepare a short writing sample, such as a client follow-up email or a coverage explanation, that shows you can convey complex policy details clearly without a face-to-face meeting.
Prepare for a video-based audition interview
Many remote insurance employers conduct a recorded or live video screen that functions as a sales audition. Practice explaining a product benefit, handling a common objection, and closing a next step, all within a two-minute format.
Remote Insurance Agent Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote insurance agent job?
Target remote-first carriers, virtual agencies, and insurtech companies that have built distributed sales and service teams. Remote employers screen for self-direction, clear written communication, and the ability to manage a pipeline without in-person oversight. A state insurance license in your resident state is a baseline requirement, and showing experience closing or servicing clients over phone and video will give you a clear edge.
Which companies hire remote insurance agents?
Companies hiring remote insurance agents right now include State Farm, Pioneer Agency, and The Gainey Agency, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These are typically remote-first carriers, distributed independent agencies, and insurtech platforms operating across personal lines, commercial lines, and group benefits.
Can you get a remote insurance agent job with no experience?
Yes, but entry-level remote insurance agent roles are competitive because you'll need to manage your own schedule and client interactions from day one without in-person coaching. Remote-first agencies and insurtech companies are the most likely to hire entry-level candidates. Completing a pre-licensing course, passing your state exam, and demonstrating strong written communication and self-organization skills in your application can open the door.
Do you need a degree for remote insurance agent jobs?
Not always. Most remote employers care far more about your state insurance license and your ability to close or service clients independently. A degree can help for roles that involve complex commercial accounts or group benefits consulting, but demonstrated results, client-facing experience, and strong written communication consistently carry more weight in remote hiring decisions.
Which industries hire the most remote insurance agents?
The sectors hiring the most remote insurance agents are Insurance, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely on distributed agent teams to reach customers across multiple states without maintaining a local office footprint.
