University Information Technology Services (UITS) is the University of Arizona’s central technology organization. UITS delivers enterprise and specialized technology services that support students, faculty, researchers, staff, and campus partners. Through innovation, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to accessibility and continuous improvement, UITS supports the evolving needs of a leading research university and the communities it serves.
UITS invites applicants for the IT Asset Management Developer (Applications Development Programmer Analyst III) position. The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Developer designs, builds, delivers, and maintains the technology solutions that support the University's Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM) programs on the ServiceNow platform. This position provides hands-on implementation expertise across the full asset lifecycle — procurement, deployment, normalization, reconciliation, and disposal — ensuring asset and license data is accurate, compliant, and actionable. This role works in close partnership with the SACM Architect to keep asset records and CMDB configuration data aligned under the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), and serves as the team's implementation-level subject matter expert for SAM and HAM.
This position is eligible for remote work within Arizona, subject to supervisor approval and department needs.

- Designs and builds integrations between ServiceNow ITAM modules and external data sources (procurement systems, discovery tools, vendor feeds) to automate asset data ingestion and lifecycle tracking, and develops reporting, dashboards, and audit processes to monitor license compliance, asset data accuracy, and overall SAM/HAM program health.
- Performs ServiceNow system administration and daily operations support for IT Service Management — including user, group, and role administration; incident and request fulfillment support; and minor configuration changes — partnering with the Catalog Manager and the Service Management Team.
- Partners with the SACM Architect to align CMDB configuration data, asset records, and reconciliation processes, ensuring data integrity across the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
- Documents technical configurations and workflows and serves as a subject matter expert on SAM/HAM implementation strategy, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.

Tips for Your Remote IT Service Management Job Search
Prove async communication on your resume
Remote it service management teams run on written handoffs, ticket documentation, and async status updates. Call out specific examples where you resolved incidents or managed service requests without real-time back-and-forth, and name the platforms you used to do it.
Get ITIL certified before you apply
ITIL 4 Foundation certification signals to remote employers that you speak the same service management language they use across distributed teams. Many remote it service management postings list it as a preferred or required credential, and it shortens the screening process in your favor.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote it service management openings from across the U.S. in one place. Search for roles that match your ITSM platform experience and apply directly as soon as a position goes live, since remote roles often close faster than on-site equivalents.
Showcase your remote incident management setup
Remote employers want to know you can handle a P1 incident without escalating to a nearby colleague. Describe your home office setup, the monitoring or alerting tools you use, and how you coordinate resolution steps across distributed stakeholders when time zones and availability vary.
Remote IT Service Management Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote it service management job?
Target companies that operate distributed IT teams, including managed service providers, SaaS firms, and enterprise technology organizations with remote-first cultures. Remote employers screen for self-direction, clear written communication, and hands-on skills in ITSM platforms like ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or BMC Remedy. Demonstrating experience managing incidents, change requests, or service desk queues asynchronously gives you a real edge over candidates who rely on in-person oversight.
Which companies hire remote it service managements?
Remote it service management roles are posted by CBIZ, Akima, and Peraton and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These tend to be remote-first technology firms, managed service providers, and distributed enterprise teams across sectors like software, healthcare IT, and financial services.
Can you get a remote it service management job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level roles are harder to land because employers expect you to troubleshoot and triage independently without on-site support. Smaller managed service providers and tech-forward nonprofits are more likely to hire early-career candidates remotely. Completing an ITIL Foundation certification, contributing to open helpdesk projects, or documenting a home lab that shows you understand ticketing workflows and service lifecycles helps fill the experience gap.
Do you need a degree for remote it service management jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers weigh ITIL certifications, hands-on platform experience with tools like ServiceNow or Zendesk, and a demonstrable record of managing service queues over a formal degree. That said, a degree in information technology or a related field can satisfy baseline requirements at larger enterprises. Certifications like ITIL 4 Foundation or CompTIA IT Fundamentals often carry more weight in remote screening than the institution on your transcript.
