INTRODUCTION
Jasper is the leading AI marketing platform, enabling the world's most innovative companies to reimagine their end-to-end marketing workflows and drive higher ROI through increased brand consistency, efficiency, and personalization at scale. Jasper has been recognized as "one of the Top 15 Most Innovative AI Companies of 2024" by Fast Company and is trusted by nearly 20% of the Fortune 500 – including Prudential, Ulta Beauty, and Wayfair. Founded in 2021, Jasper is a remote-first organization with team members across the US, France, and Australia.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Director of Product Design at Jasper, you will lead a small, fast-moving design team and define how marketers work with AI. This is a player-coach role for someone who has built and grown high-performing design teams without losing their own obsession with craft — the weight of a typeface, the rhythm of an interaction, the clarity of an information hierarchy — and who leads from the front in a new, AI-native way of building. You won't just direct the work; you'll be in it: prototyping, vibe coding, and shipping alongside the team. This role carries three things at its core. First, you'll guide the design strategy of Jasper and help define the future of how enterprise marketing teams use AI. You'll set the vision for what our product feels like to use and make the calls that shape where design takes the company. As our design leader, you'll maintain the highest standards of visual and interaction design across the product, with the kind of polish and consistency that enterprise customers paying six and seven figures expect. As a member of the EPD leadership team, you will also work alongside Product and Engineering leaders to keep evolving how we build software with AI. Jasper has already aggressively evolved how we use AI to build software, and we want to keep accelerating. On the design side, that means exploring emerging ways to use Cursor, Claude Code and Claude Design, operationalizing design-to-front-end pipelines, and setting up our design system and context to improve the ability of coding agents to use the right components and follow the right design patterns. This fully remote role reports to the Chief Product Officer and is open to candidates located anywhere in the continental US.
WHAT YOU WILL DO AT JASPER
- Own and guide the design strategy for Jasper, setting the vision for how enterprise marketing teams will work with AI and making the design calls that shape where the product and company go
- Maintain the highest standards of visual and interaction design across the product. Set and raise the bar on every surface, holding the line on polish and consistency that enterprise customers paying six and seven figures expect
- Lead a small, high-velocity design team as a player-coach — coaching and upleveling designers while staying deeply hands-on, prototyping and vibe coding with tools like Cursor and Claude Code and shipping real work to production
- As a member of the EPD leadership team, work alongside Product and Engineering leaders to keep evolving how Jasper builds software with AI
- Accelerate, innovate, and define AI-first ways of designing and AI-first design-to-front-end pipelines, pioneering how prototypes go from concept to working, production-ready code
- Extend Jasper's design system and the context and skills our coding agents rely on
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define the problems worth solving and shape roadmaps that deliver on customer outcomes
- Build a high-trust, inclusive, feedback-driven design culture that values autonomy, learning, and accountability
- Establish and run the team's craft rituals — design critiques and reviews — that elevate quality and develop designers
- Coach and support designers in their career growth, fostering both craft and leadership development
- Play a key role in hiring, onboarding, and scaling the design organization as the team grows
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO JASPER
- 8+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual design craft and strong end-to-end product thinking
- 4+ years leading and managing design teams, with a track record of building and developing high-performing, high-craft teams in a high-growth SaaS or product-led environment
- A genuine player-coach: you can lead and uplevel a team and you remain proficient and hands-on yourself — equally comfortable coaching a designer and shipping the work
- Demonstrated experience building AI-first design workflows and design-to-front-end pipelines — you have hands-on fluency with AI-native and vibe coding tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, v0) and can point to real work you've shipped to production. This is non-negotiable at Jasper
- Proven ability to build and own a coherent, well-governed design system — you sweat the details and hold the bar so experiences feel consistent across every surface, the way enterprise buyers expect
- Outstanding UI and visual design judgment — a refined eye for typography, colour, layout, spacing, and hierarchy, and the ability to hold the team to it
- Working knowledge of front-end code (HTML, CSS, React/JSX) and fluency with modern design tools (Figma) — you can read, review, and riff in code when needed
- Experience designing for AI-native or AI-augmented products, with an understanding of the unique UX challenges they present (non-deterministic outputs, prompt interfaces, copilot patterns, trust and transparency)
- Background in B2B or enterprise SaaS, ideally at an AI-native company or one that has strongly pivoted to AI; go-to-market or marketing-adjacent product experience is a plus
- A pragmatist's mindset: you balance design ideals with business reality, shipping velocity, and engineering constraints without sacrificing quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence across technical and business stakeholders, including leadership

What Employers Look For
The qualifications that appear most often in remote product design engineer jobs.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo
- Experience with design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly principles
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a related field
- Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Experience taking products from concept through production release
- Knowledge of materials selection, tolerance analysis, and supplier communication
Tips for Your Remote Product Design Engineer Job Search
Tailor your resume to DFM depth
Most product design engineer postings screen for design-for-manufacturability experience, not just CAD skills. Call out specific tolerances you've held, materials you've specified, and how your designs changed between prototype and production to make that experience concrete.
Showcase your portfolio with real constraints
Hiring managers want to see how you handled trade-offs, not just polished renders. Include cost targets you hit, mass or envelope constraints you worked within, and any DFT or DFA changes made after supplier feedback. Process beats aesthetics here.
Filter openings by industry vertical first
Product design engineer roles in medical devices require design controls and FDA familiarity, while consumer electronics roles prioritize BOM cost and cycle time. Applying across every vertical dilutes your pitch, so target one or two where your materials and compliance background is strongest.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists product design engineer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prep for a take-home design exercise
Many product design engineer interviews include a timed design challenge covering assembly, tolerancing, or material selection. Practice narrating your decision logic out loud, because interviewers care as much about your trade-off reasoning as they do about the final sketch or model.
Negotiate relocation and prototype access
Beyond base compensation, ask about lab access, prototyping budgets, and travel to suppliers or contract manufacturers. These resources directly affect your ability to do the job and are often negotiable at the offer stage before headcount is locked.
Remote Product Design Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote product design engineer job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote product design engineer employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote product design engineers?
Remote product design engineer roles are posted by Banner Health, YA, and MEADE ENGINEERING and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote product design engineer roles.
Can you get a remote product design engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote product design engineer openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote product design engineer jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote product design engineers on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote product design engineer roles.
Which industries hire the most remote product design engineers?
The sectors hiring the most remote product design engineers are Consulting & Professional Services, Technology & Software, and Manufacturing, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed teams and hire product design engineers remotely most consistently.
