Tips for Your Remote Trial Attorney Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote trial attorney openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your practice area and apply directly. Remote postings fill fast, so applying early gives you a real edge.
Show async communication skills upfront
Remote litigation teams rely on written updates, shared case management platforms, and video calls instead of hallway check-ins. Highlight your motion drafting volume, deposition summaries, and any experience managing discovery through cloud-based tools in your application materials.
Demonstrate independent caseload management
Remote employers want proof you can carry cases from intake to resolution without in-office supervision. Quantify the number of active matters you have managed simultaneously and note any cases you took from filing through verdict or settlement on your own.
Prepare for remote court and deposition scenarios
Virtual depositions and remote court appearances are now standard at distributed litigation firms. Practice your setup, lighting, and connection quality before interviews, and be ready to describe your experience with video testimony and electronic exhibit presentation.
Target firms with existing distributed teams
Remote-first boutiques and insurance defense shops with multi-state practices have built workflows for remote attorneys and onboard new hires more smoothly. Look for postings that mention established remote teams or multi-jurisdiction practices rather than firms trying remote for the first time.

How do I get a remote trial attorney job?

Remote-first firms and high-volume insurance defense shops are the most likely to hire junior attorneys remotely. A strong writing sample, demonstrated research ability, and mock trial or clinic experience can substitute for billable-hours history.
Do you need a degree for remote trial attorney jobs?

Remote employers do weigh practical skills heavily alongside credentials, including demonstrated case management, motion practice, and the ability to communicate effectively in writing across distributed teams.
