Tips for Your Remote Underwriting Manager Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote underwriting manager openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your line of business and apply directly without sorting through general job boards.
Show async leadership in your application
Remote underwriting manager roles require you to direct a team without face-to-face oversight. Write a cover letter that describes how you've coached underwriters, resolved exceptions, or communicated guidelines in writing, since remote employers use your application itself as a writing sample.
Prove your remote underwriting workflow
List the platforms you've used for remote underwriting work, whether that's a specific policy management system, a cloud-based decisioning tool, or a shared documentation environment. Naming real tools tells distributed teams you won't need a ramp-up period to function remotely.
Prepare for a remote panel interview
Most remote underwriting manager interviews happen over video with two or three stakeholders at once. Practice explaining a complex underwriting decision or a team performance issue clearly and concisely on screen, because remote hiring managers assess how you'll run virtual team meetings in the actual role.
Highlight measurable team outcomes
Remote employers can't observe your management style in person, so quantify what your team produced: loss ratio improvements, underwriting cycle time reductions, or book growth under your oversight. Numbers give distributed hiring teams a proxy for leadership effectiveness they can't see firsthand.
Remote Underwriting Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote underwriting manager job?
Target remote-first insurers, specialty lines carriers, and fintech lenders that operate distributed underwriting teams, since they build their workflows around remote collaboration from day one. Remote employers screen heavily for written communication, independent decision-making, and experience managing underwriters across time zones. Strong candidates demonstrate async leadership, a clean digital audit trail of team performance, and familiarity with underwriting platforms your team can use without being in the same room.
Which companies hire remote underwriting managers?
Companies hiring remote underwriting managers right now include Corebridge Financial, Rate, and CVS Health, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote openings for this role concentrate at remote-first carriers, specialty insurers, mortgage and lending platforms, and distributed financial services firms that manage underwriting teams without a central office.
Can you get a remote underwriting manager job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level manager roles are harder to land because employers expect you to direct a team without in-person oversight from the start. Your best path is to build a record as a remote individual contributor underwriter first, then move into a lead role. Demonstrating async communication skills and a history of independent, accurate underwriting decisions signals you're ready to manage others remotely.
Do you need a degree for remote underwriting manager jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers weigh CPCU, AU, or other industry credentials alongside or instead of a four-year degree, especially when a candidate brings documented underwriting results and team leadership experience. Showing a history of profitable book management, reduced loss ratios, or successful team training often carries more weight with remote hiring managers than the degree itself.
Which industries hire the most remote underwriting managers?
The sectors hiring the most remote underwriting managers are Insurance, Banking & Financial Services, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors hire underwriting managers remotely because their underwriting workflows, documentation, and team communication are already built around digital tools and distributed decision-making.
