Research Dietitian Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research dietitian in Massachusetts?
To work as a research dietitian in Massachusetts, you must first earn a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, which requires completing an accredited didactic program, a supervised practice internship, and passing the national registration exam. Massachusetts additionally requires a state license issued by the Board of Registration of Dietitians. Most research positions also expect at least a master's degree in nutrition or a related science, particularly for roles involving independent study design or grant-funded projects.
Which companies hire research dietitians in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts research dietitian roles are posted by Healthcare Services, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Dialysis Clinic and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of academic medical centers, research universities, and life sciences companies means openings appear across hospital systems, federally funded nutrition research programs, and biotech firms conducting clinical nutrition studies.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most research dietitian jobs?
Boston, Cambridge, and Massachusetts account for the largest share of research dietitian openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge dominate because of their cluster of academic medical centers, research universities, and life sciences headquarters, while Worcester draws openings through UMass Memorial Medical Center and the University of Massachusetts Medical School, both of which support active nutrition and population health research programs.
Are there remote research dietitian jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're limited, since much research dietitian work involves in-person participant contact, lab protocols, and on-site data collection. About 30% of research dietitian openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's hands-on requirements. The portions of the work most likely to shift remote are data analysis, manuscript preparation, dietary assessment review, and grant writing responsibilities.
How can I get hired as a research dietitian in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a research coordinator or clinical research associate role at one of Massachusetts's large academic medical centers, such as Boston Children's Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, or the Tufts Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, which regularly bring on candidates with a registered dietitian credential and limited field experience. Completing your Massachusetts state license early and pursuing any nutrition-focused research practicum during your internship strengthens your application considerably for these junior openings.
Where can I find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your specialty, experience level, and preferred location across the state, then apply directly to the positions that fit.
