Department
National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at FSU
Responsibilities
- Create, construct and repair highly specialized scientific research equipment and facilities.
- Assist users in setting up and carrying out experiments.
- Instruct users in the operation of special equipment and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
- Perform functions in support of assigned responsibilities to include purchasing instrumentation and supplies.
- Assist Chief of User Support with providing software and data acquisition support of other National High Magnetic Field Laboratory project teams.
- Perform complex experiments to facilitate development of new experimental capabilities including analyzing, modelling, and reporting of experimental data.
- Interpret and implement policy relative to user utilization of instrumentation.
- Assist with policy development for overall user program.
- Will maintain technical knowledge and expertise at the highest level and use the knowledge/expertise to identify short- and long-range instrumentation needs.
- Participate in development of new programs to meet user's needs as they evolve.
- Independently research and propose solutions that improve experimental capabilities to enhance the user experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in physics or a closely related degree and 3 years (36 months) of experience in condensed matter and/or material physics.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in thermal transport measurements at low temperatures and high magnetic fields.
