Job responsibilities
- Lead strategic UX research by proactively identifying opportunities and gaps across product areas and aligning opportunities to product strategy and broader platform needs.
- Apply the appropriate research method for the current stage of the design cycle, identifying when e.g. ethnographic inquiry is needed versus when a live A/B experiment is the right approach.
- Work with cross-functional partners to clarify ambiguous problem spaces, align on the right questions, and set strategic direction amid uncertainty.
- Develop approaches to document and evaluate human + AI workflows and help teams anticipate downstream operational, legal, and risk implications.
- Connect research to success metrics (customer, business, and operational), and ensure teams can translate insights into clear decisions, tradeoffs, and execution-ready recommendations.
- Build and improve systems that enable research and impact at scale, improving efficiency and consistency across the organization.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers and foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
- Monitor and anticipate industry trends and advancements in UX research methods and AI product development, staying ahead of the curve as you incorporate innovative design thinking and cutting-edge techniques.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 5+ years of experience leading generative and evaluative UX research, with strong command of both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Demonstrated ability to lead research across technically complex, cross-product or platform-scale problem spaces.
- Proven track record translating research into product strategy and measurable improvements in customer experience, adoption, or operational outcomes.
- Ability to synthesize complex inputs into clear recommendations, practical decision frameworks, and leadership-ready narratives across multiple deliverable formats.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and rapid change, applying an iterative mindset and adapting research scope and parameters as product needs evolve.
- Skilled at reading the room and adjusting communication style, framing, and detail in real time to resonate with any audience, from executives to cross-functional partners.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience researching and evaluating user-facing AI/ML applications, copilots, or agentic workflows in regulated or high-stakes environments.
- Working knowledge of behavioral analytics and experimentation (funnels, cohorts, A/B testing).
- Expertise in designing research programs for emerging technologies and AI-enabled experiences—reducing ambiguity, enabling risk-aware evaluation, and driving iterative learning.
- People-management expertise, including coaching and developing talent and effectively navigating complex cross-functional stakeholder environments.

Research Jobs in Brooklyn: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a research job in Brooklyn?
Brooklyn's research market is strongest in life sciences, university-affiliated institutions, and tech-driven data roles, so candidates who tailor their background to one of these areas move fastest. Labs and institutes clustered around the Brooklyn Navy Yard and SUNY Downstate tend to hire researchers with hands-on lab or clinical experience, while firms in DUMBO and Downtown Brooklyn lean toward analytical and product research skills. A portfolio of published work, completed projects, or relevant certifications gives Brooklyn applicants a meaningful edge over candidates with credentials alone.
Which companies hire researchs in Brooklyn?
Employers hiring researchs in Brooklyn right now include New York University, Swift Clinical Research, and JPMorganChase, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Brooklyn's employer mix ranges from academic medical centers and biotech startups to established technology firms and independent research consultancies, reflecting the borough's increasingly diverse knowledge economy.
Are there remote research jobs in Brooklyn?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the type of research work, since laboratory, clinical, and field-based roles are almost always on-site while analytical, survey, and desk research positions are frequently remote. About 18% of research openings tied to Brooklyn are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the highest remote share in market research, UX research, and data-focused roles. Candidates applying to Brooklyn-based tech and media employers are most likely to find hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a research job in Brooklyn with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Brooklyn is a research coordinator or research assistant role at one of the borough's hospital systems or university-affiliated programs, which regularly hire candidates without graduate degrees. Employers at the Brooklyn Navy Yard biotech hub and CUNY-affiliated programs offer internships and project-based positions that build verifiable lab or analytical experience. Completing a relevant certification, contributing to open-source data projects, or assisting a faculty researcher at a local institution signals initiative and gives early-career candidates concrete work to discuss in interviews.
Which industries hire the most researchs in Brooklyn?
Brooklyn research roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Retail, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Brooklyn's growth as a hub for health sciences, technology startups, and creative industries has expanded local research hiring well beyond traditional academic settings, drawing demand from private sector employers that previously sourced talent exclusively from Manhattan.
