Research Product Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research product manager in New York?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in a research-adjacent field such as cognitive science, human-computer interaction, psychology, or computer science, followed by hands-on product or UX research experience. New York has no state-issued license for this role, but employers here consistently favor candidates with demonstrated research portfolio work and familiarity with New York's tech and financial services environments. Graduate programs at schools like Columbia and NYU also feed directly into research PM roles at major New York employers.
Which companies hire research product managers in New York?
Employers hiring research product managers in New York right now include Citi, Cohere, and Distyl AI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of fintech firms, media companies, and major health systems means openings appear across a wider range of industries here than in most other states.
Which New York cities have the most research product manager jobs?
New York, Boston, and Brooklyn account for the most research product manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its dense concentration of tech headquarters, financial institutions, and media companies, while Albany draws openings tied to state government technology initiatives and healthcare systems, and Buffalo has seen growth through university-affiliated research and regional health employers.
Are there remote research product manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, because research product management is largely desk-based, analytical work that translates well to distributed teams. About 29% of research product manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the role's strong fit for flexible arrangements. The research synthesis, roadmapping, and stakeholder communication portions of the role are most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a research product manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate product manager or junior UX researcher role at a New York tech company or health system, which typically requires a relevant degree and a research portfolio rather than years of PM experience. Large New York employers including Google and several major financial services firms run structured APM programs for early-career candidates. Lateral moves from UX research, data analysis, or business analysis roles are common, and a portfolio of research projects or a relevant certification in product management gives candidates a concrete edge in New York hiring.
Where can I find and apply to research product manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to research product manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, Albany, Buffalo, and other locations throughout the state. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
