Job Title: Assistant Cafe Manager
Location: Newbury St., Back Bay – Boston, MA
Position Type: Full-time, Salaried ($62,500 / year)

About Central Perk Coffee Co.
Inspired by the legendary FRIENDS gathering spot, Central Perk Coffee Co. is a vibrant, modern coffeehouse located on historic Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay. More than a nostalgic destination, our flagship cafe delivers specialty coffee, high-quality food, and genuine hospitality. We are seeking an Assistant Cafe Manager to support daily floor execution, develop supervisors and baristas, and maintain exceptional operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Hospitality & Floor Leadership
- Drive daily floor execution, maintaining guest throughput, drink consistency, and table/counter cleanliness during peak Back Bay rushes.
- Conduct regular "Guest Eye" walkthroughs to ensure merchandise displays, seating areas, and service stations meet brand standards.
- Actively resolve guest feedback on the floor with warmth and efficiency.
Team Development & People Management
- Partner with the General Manager on sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and training baristas and shift supervisors.
- Build and publish weekly labor schedules that meet store sales targets while ensuring fair shift coverage.
- Coach shift supervisors on floor delegation, customer escalation handling, and opening/closing accountability.
Operations & Administrative Support
- Oversee inventory controls, daily dairy/pastry par levels, and physical stock counts.
- Audit daily safe reconciliations, shift checklists, and waste logs using back-office management software.
- Monitor espresso machine, grinder, and refrigeration performance, logging maintenance issues promptly to prevent operational downtime.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of supervisory or assistant management experience in a high-volume cafe, specialty coffee shop, or fast-casual concept.
- Demonstrated ability to build schedules to labor budgets and handle cash/safe reconciliation.
- Open availability for early mornings, peak weekend shifts, and occasional holidays.
- Valid ServSafe Manager and allergen awareness certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire per Massachusetts guidelines).
- Strong communication skills with an energetic, hospitality-first mindset.
