Overview
As a Risk Analyst at Upright Lending, you are a key member of a high-performing branch, supporting the Director, Risk and Managing Director in underwriting, documentation, and portfolio oversight. You work closely with the branch team to ensure loans are structured, documented, and managed in alignment with Upright Lending’s credit standards while helping to maintain portfolio health and drive borrower satisfaction.
This role is ideal for early career credit professionals who want to deepen their expertise in underwriting and risk management while contributing to the success of a high-growth lending platform.
Mission
Support the branch’s risk management and portfolio performance by delivering clean, accurate underwriting, ensuring documentation completeness, and assisting with ongoing portfolio oversight.
Core Responsibilities
Pre-Underwriting & Documentation:
- Assist in reviewing borrower applications, term sheets, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and verify loan files for underwriting, ensuring all required documents (entity, borrower, budgets, permits, insurance, etc.) are complete and accurate.
- Support the Director, Risk in structuring transactions that balance borrower needs with Upright Lending’s credit policies.
Portfolio Oversight:
- Monitor post-close loan performance, including draw schedules, payment tracking, and extension requests.
- Flag potential risks or performance concerns to the Director, Risk for review.
- Assist with data collection and reporting to support portfolio health reviews.
Branch Collaboration:
- Partner with other branch team members to ensure smooth loan closings and borrower experiences.
- Participate in branch-level initiatives to improve workflows, loan performance and borrower satisfaction & retention.
Key Metrics
- Task Completion Speed: Average time from assignment to completion.
- Documentation completeness and QA pass rates.
- Draw Processing Efficiency: % of draws processed on time without escalations.
- Book Performance Support: DQ60 percentage and timely identification/escalation of delinquencies or portfolio risks.
- Branch Contribution: Impact on capacity, P&L, and borrower satisfaction.

- You execute critical workflows with speed and precision, directly driving capacity, clean closings, and portfolio health, ensuring origination, profitability, and borrower satisfaction goals are met.
- Loans close cleanly and on time, with minimal post-close issues.
- Draws and extensions are processed efficiently, improving borrower satisfaction and book health.
- You actively contribute to profitability and capacity, becoming an indispensable team member.
- You develop the skills and judgment needed for promotion to Director, Risk, positioning yourself for future leadership.
Required Skills & Experience
- 0-3 years in private lending, mortgage, or financial services, with exposure to credit or underwriting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy.
- Familiarity with loan documentation, origination, and CRM systems.
- An analytical mindset with solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, multi-deal environment.
- Desire to learn and grow within a high-performing lending team.
