Salesforce Engineer Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a salesforce engineer in California?
California has no state-issued license for salesforce engineers, so the path runs through Salesforce's own credential program. Most California employers expect at least a Salesforce Certified Administrator credential as a baseline, with Platform Developer I or II certifications preferred for engineering roles. Candidates typically pair those credentials with a computer science or information systems degree, though bootcamp graduates with a strong certification portfolio are regularly hired by California tech and enterprise employers.
How much do salesforce engineers make in California?
Salesforce engineers in California earn a median of about $139,160 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,850 for the lowest 10% to over $213,370 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire salesforce engineers in California?
Employers hiring salesforce engineers in California right now include Skechers, Capgemini, and FCT, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's density of enterprise technology companies, large health systems, and financial services firms makes it one of the deepest markets in the country for Salesforce-specific roles.
Which California cities have the most salesforce engineer jobs?
San Francisco, Irvine, and Menlo Park have the most salesforce engineer openings in California. San Francisco and San Jose lead because of the concentration of enterprise SaaS companies and Salesforce's own headquarters in the Bay Area, while Los Angeles draws demand from media, entertainment, and healthcare organizations that run large Salesforce orgs.
Are there remote salesforce engineer jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Salesforce engineering is almost entirely desk-based work, which makes it one of the more remote-friendly technical disciplines. About 63% of salesforce engineer openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how readily the configuration, development, and admin work translates to distributed teams. Apex development and integration architecture roles tend to carry the highest share of fully remote postings.
How can I get hired as a salesforce engineer in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is earning a Salesforce Certified Administrator credential and applying for junior admin or business systems analyst roles, which California employers treat as the on-ramp to engineering work. Large employers like Kaiser Permanente, Salesforce, and major Bay Area technology firms regularly hire associate administrators and offer internal development tracks. Candidates coming from roles like business analyst, CRM coordinator, or IT support can move laterally by demonstrating hands-on Trailhead project work and a completed certification.
Where can I find and apply to salesforce engineer jobs in California?
You can find and apply to salesforce engineer jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your certifications and experience level, and apply directly to each one.
