Job Description
Dr. Paul de Figueiredo’s lab is seeking a Staff Scientist who is interested in cutting edge research in microbiology, molecular biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology. Our goal is to develop new tools for fighting disease and to develop novel biochemical assays that probe biological function. Alongside the University of Missouri’s excellent research infrastructure to support these lines of investigation, this research endeavors primary focus on experiments related to construction of novel genetic elements and biochemical analysis of catalytic activities. The successful candidate will analyze and interpret experimental data, translating findings into actionable insights. This position will involve strategic collaboration on interdisciplinary projects supported by DARPA, ARPA-H, and NIH funding, driving impactful discoveries in microbial research. Successful candidates will have exceptional organizational and time management skills. They must be detailed oriented and have superb documentation skills. They must also demonstrate the following durable skills: collaboration, communication, critical thinking, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude. Additionally, confidentiality, integrity, and a commitment to the university’s values. Must be available for consistent, onsite work. Some night and weekend work will be expected. Shift
Onsite, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, some after hours and weekend work may be required
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in bacteriology, microbiology, cell biology, and drug discovery.
- Extensive knowledge of molecular, biochemical, and cell biological techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to lead research projects and mentor junior staff.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with a track record of successful publications and presentations.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $54,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
Grade: GGS 010
