Security Engineering Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security engineering manager in Mississippi?
The most direct path is building several years of hands-on security engineering experience, then moving into a team lead or senior engineer role before stepping into management. Mississippi has no state-issued license specific to security engineering management, but employers consistently expect a recognized certification such as CISSP or CISM. A bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or information systems is the standard educational baseline, and many Mississippi employers in defense and healthcare also value familiarity with federal compliance frameworks such as NIST or CMMC.
How much do security engineering managers make in Mississippi?
Security engineering managers in Mississippi earn a median of about $86,940 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $31,380 for the lowest 10% to over $135,500 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security engineering managers in Mississippi?
Mississippi security engineering manager roles are posted by Amazon, Milwaukee Tool, and Wayne-Sanderson Farms and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's mix of federal defense contractors on the Gulf Coast, state agency IT shops in Jackson, and large healthcare systems creates consistent demand across multiple employer types.
Which Mississippi cities have the most security engineering manager jobs?
Jackson, Flowood, and Pascagoula account for the largest share of security engineering manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads because it concentrates state government agencies, major health systems, and financial services headquarters, while Gulfport and the broader Gulf Coast corridor draw substantial demand from federal defense contractors and military installation support contractors operating in that region.
Are there remote security engineering manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than many management roles because security engineering oversight translates well to remote collaboration tools and cloud-native environments. About 38% of security engineering manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting real flexibility in the market. Strategic and architecture-heavy parts of the role tend to be the most remote-compatible, while positions tied to on-premises OT or ICS environments in energy and manufacturing more often require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a security engineering manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a security analyst or systems administrator role first, then building toward a senior engineer title before pursuing management. State agencies in Jackson and large health systems such as the University of Mississippi Medical Center regularly post analyst and junior engineer roles that serve as starting points. Earning a CompTIA Security Plus or working toward a CISSP associate designation while in an individual-contributor role gives candidates a concrete edge when applying for first-time manager openings in Mississippi's defense and government sectors.
Where can I find and apply to security engineering manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to security engineering manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings in one place. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
