Security Program Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security program manager in Nebraska?
Most security program managers in Nebraska enter the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information systems, or a related field and several years in security analysis, IT risk, or compliance roles. Nebraska does not require a state-issued license for this position, but employers strongly prefer industry credentials such as CISSP, CISM, or PMP. Candidates targeting defense-sector roles near Offutt Air Force Base should also pursue or hold an active federal security clearance.
Which companies hire security program managers in Nebraska?
Nebraska security program manager roles are posted by Metro One LPSG, HDR, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of defense contractors, large financial services firms, and state government agencies means demand is spread across both the private sector and public institutions.
Which Nebraska cities have the most security program manager jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Papillion have the most security program manager openings in Nebraska. Omaha dominates because of its dense cluster of financial services headquarters, defense contractors tied to Offutt Air Force Base, and major healthcare systems, while Lincoln draws openings from state government agencies and the University of Nebraska, and Bellevue benefits directly from its proximity to the base and supporting federal contractors.
Are there remote security program manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 30% of security program manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of much of this work. Policy development, compliance monitoring, vendor risk assessment, and program reporting are the functions most commonly performed fully remote, while roles requiring on-site audits or clearance-facility access tend to stay in person.
How can I get hired as a security program manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a security program manager role from an adjacent position such as security analyst, IT auditor, or compliance specialist, which large Nebraska employers like Mutual of Omaha, Nebraska Medicine, and state agencies regularly post as entry points. Building toward a CompTIA Security+ or PMP credential while in one of those roles signals readiness for program-level responsibility. Volunteering to lead a security initiative or coordinate an audit at a current employer also creates the portfolio evidence Nebraska hiring managers look for before promoting someone into a program manager seat.
Where can I find and apply to security program manager jobs in Nebraska?
