Security Program Manager Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security program manager in Colorado?
Most security program managers in Colorado enter the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, or engineering and several years in security operations or program coordination. Colorado has no state-issued license specific to this role, but employers in the defense corridor consistently require a federal security clearance processed through the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency. Certifications like the CISSP, PMP, or CompTIA Security+ materially strengthen candidacy.
Which companies hire security program managers in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring security program managers in Colorado include PeopleTec, MTSI, and Astrion, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's dense concentration of defense prime contractors and federal agency satellite offices makes it one of the more active states for this role.
Which Colorado cities have the most security program manager jobs?
Colorado Springs, Denver, and Aurora account for the largest share of security program manager openings in Colorado. Denver drives volume through its corporate headquarters and federal civilian agencies, while Colorado Springs and Aurora are anchored by military installations like Peterson Space Force Base and Buckley Space Force Base, which generate sustained demand from defense contractors operating on or near those facilities.
Are there remote security program manager jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles because much of this work in Colorado involves classified systems, cleared facilities, or on-site government contractor requirements. About 33% of security program manager openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be positions focused on policy development, compliance documentation, or unclassified cybersecurity program oversight.
How can I get hired as a security program manager in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a security analyst, IT project coordinator, or compliance associate role at one of Colorado's large defense contractors or federal agencies, then transitioning into program management as you accumulate clearance-eligible experience. Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman both run early-career development programs at their Colorado facilities that place candidates into rotational or junior program roles. Earning a CompTIA Security+ and initiating the clearance process early gives candidates a measurable edge in a market where cleared talent is scarce.
Where can I find and apply to security program manager jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to security program manager jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your clearance level and experience, and apply directly to whichever positions fit your background.
