Entry Level Senior Application Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level senior application developer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for hands-on evidence of your skills, not just a degree. Build a portfolio of personal or academic projects, contribute to open-source work, and highlight any internship or co-op experience. Tailor each application to the tech stack listed in the job posting, and be ready to walk through your code in a technical interview. Relevant certifications can also strengthen a lean resume.
Which companies hire entry level senior application developers?
Companies hiring entry level senior application developers right now include Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Cargill, and City of New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, from large enterprises running structured new-grad programs to growing mid-size companies that bring in junior developers to expand their engineering teams.
Are there remote entry level senior application developer jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and tech stack. About 13% of entry level senior application developer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so flexibility exists even at the junior level. Fully on-site roles remain common, particularly at companies that prefer new developers to work closely with senior engineers during the early stages of their career.
Are these new grad senior application developer jobs?
Yes, many of these postings are new grad and junior roles that welcome recent graduates with little to no professional experience. A new-grad-friendly posting typically states that zero to two years of experience is acceptable, counts internships or academic projects toward requirements, and does not demand a long employment history. If a listing mentions a degree, a capstone project, or a portfolio as acceptable credentials, it is worth applying.
Which industries hire the most entry level senior application developers?
Entry Level senior application developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Government & Public Sector, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at the junior level because they run large software projects that require additional developer capacity and often have the structured onboarding needed to bring new graduates up to speed quickly.
