Job Overview
The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry’s Consumer Protection Services Division is seeking an Application Developer to provide development support for a new Inspections application being developed in-house. The new application will allow agency field inspectors to collect agricultural inspection data through online forms, save the information to a SQL database, and generate and store PDF documents. The existing inspections program is scheduled to be decommissioned in Spring 2027, and the selected developer will support the development and transition to the replacement system. The primary responsibility of this position is to convert approximately 70 existing fillable PDF inspection documents into interactive HTML forms. The developer will use JavaScript to implement functionality that allows inspector-entered data to be saved to the SQL database. Jinja templates will then be used to compile the collected information into new PDF documents. The developer will also provide general JavaScript development support as needed to help keep the project on schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Convert approximately 70 existing fillable PDF inspection documents into interactive HTML forms.
- Develop and maintain form functionality using JavaScript.
- Implement functionality for inspectors to enter and submit agricultural inspection data.
- Develop functionality to save application and form data to a SQL database.
- Work with SQL queries and database-related application functionality.
- Use Jinja/Jinja templates to generate PDF documents from collected inspection data.
- Support the generation and storage of PDF inspection documents.
- Provide JavaScript development support for the Inspections application as needed.
- Test and troubleshoot application functionality, forms, and data processing.
- Identify and resolve development issues and defects.
- Work with the in-house development team to support project objectives and timelines.
- Follow established development practices and standards.
- Assist with application enhancements and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure inspection forms accurately meet business and user requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- JavaScript – Beginner to Intermediate experience.
- SQL – Beginner to Intermediate experience.
- T-SQL experience is preferred, but experience with any form of SQL is acceptable.
- HTML – Beginner to Intermediate experience.
- CSS – Beginner to Intermediate experience.
- Experience developing or modifying web-based forms and applications.
- Understanding of basic application data flow and database interaction.
- Experience with application testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
- Ability to work effectively with an in-house development team.
- Ability to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Monday through Friday.
