ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst is a primary contributor and leading subject matter expert on the Business Intelligence team, driving a culture of data-driven decision making at The Trade Desk for teams as widely varying as Client Services, Finance, Product, Technology, Marketing, People, Legal, and Sales.
This role requires working cross-functionally to understand evolving business needs deeply. You will be responsible for designing and developing insights capabilities, experiments, presentations, and models to guide the strategic decision making of senior and executive stakeholders. You will also be expected to use advanced analytics techniques to surface insights, guide business decisions, and proactively identify opportunities and threats.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Surface insights from multiple data sources to support complex operational decision making. Execute and/or coordinate critical, advanced analytics initiatives providing an interpretation of findings and the implications to The Trade Desk
- Build the semantic layer (e.g., dbt, Power BI tabular models) that exposes business‑friendly metrics and hierarchies; drive versioning, automated testing, and documentation standards.
- Provide analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics across various business areas and develop actionable insights for leadership.
- Influence The Trade Desk leadership by proactively seeking and framing opportunities and identifying business risks.
- Develop solutions that deliver critical data-driven insights and decision metrics proactively and at scale.
- Participate in cross-functional teams whose members include Marketing, Sales, Operations, Product, Technology, People Analytics, and Finance
- Develop strong, professional, and collaborative working relationships among BI team leadership and with key stakeholders
- Provide transformational thought leadership for analytics including advanced data modeling, predictive modeling, and analytical techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a quantitative or scientific field (Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) or equivalent experience with 5+ years professional experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence roles. AdTech experience preferred.
- 8-12 years analytical experience in advanced analysis and predictive analytics; demonstrated proficiency in applying this experience to address business problems and to aid decision making
- 3+ years of experience supporting Sales, with experience providing actionable insights to drive the business. Prior experience creating and monitoring success metrics, performing experiments, and effectively communicating results.
- Significant proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as SQL/R/Python.
- Must have expert level experience with standard analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and ability to create presentations conveying compelling data-driven stories to all levels of the company
- Experience with business intelligence (BI) and analysis tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
- Must possess a demonstrated curiosity to understand the “why” in the data
- Excellent critical thinking skills and proven track record with presenting complex data-driven insights to stakeholders at all levels including senior and executive leadership
- Ability to understand complicated problems and supply concise and relevant answers
- Ability to convey technical topics to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently in rapidly growing environment, handling multiple competing priorities with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to build consensus across cross-functional and across geographic teams
- Ability to come up to speed quickly on complex business topics.
- Must possess a 'can-do' attitude, motivated by the opportunity to have significant and measurable impact on the business.
- Must have the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff
COMPENSATION
- Base Salary: $103,200—$189,200 USD
In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. Employees can also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade Desk’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
