Position Summary
Grain Group seeks a Sr BI Analytics Analyst for hands-on, technical analytics work across our client portfolio. The role requires strong SQL, comfort building scripts and automations in Google Sheets and Apps Script, and experience using AI coding tools to build working analyses and internal tools. You will connect paid media, retail, and sales data for CPG and product brands, and turn it into insights, performance forecasts, and recommendations that drive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and maintain SQL in BigQuery that joins media platform, retail, e-commerce, and client-side sales data into clean, reusable tables
- Own data integrity across accounts: QA tracking, tagging, and data feeds, and fix breaks before they reach client reporting
- Build and maintain Looker Studio dashboards aligned to client KPIs and business objectives
- Build and update monthly Impact Estimates using historical performance, benchmarks, and current results; compare against actuals and adjust the method when estimates drift
- Prepare data for and interpret marketing mix models (MMM), incrementality tests, and attribution analysis
- Analyze sales and sell-through data alongside media spend for CPG clients across Amazon, Walmart, Instacart, and DTC
- Write Google Apps Script and Sheets automations for pacing, QA, data pulls, and report prep
- Vibe code internal tools and scripts with AI coding assistants (Claude, Codex, Cursor, or similar), then test and ship them
- Standardize recurring analytics workflows so they run the same way on every account
Strategic & Cross-Functional Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for data, measurement, and analytics tooling
- Partner with Strategy on planning inputs and with Performance on interpreting results and improving execution
- Turn analysis into clear, decision-ready recommendations for strategists and clients
- Participate in client calls and presentations to walk through analysis and findings
- Contribute to new business efforts including performance projections, measurement plans, and MMM scoping
- Mentor junior analysts on SQL, data QA, and automation best practices
Requirements
- 5+ years hands-on experience in media analytics, BI, or marketing analytics at a CPG brand, product company, or agency serving them
- Proven experience analyzing sales and marketing data together: spend, impressions, and conversions alongside retail sales, sell-through, or e-commerce revenue
- Advanced SQL, including CTEs, window functions, and multi-source joins
- Strong Google Sheets and Apps Script skills: custom functions, triggers, API pulls, and automations
- Hands-on experience vibe coding with AI tools, including testing and debugging the output
- Working knowledge of paid media platforms (Google, Meta, Amazon Ads, programmatic) and metrics such as ROAS, CPA, NTB, and incrementality
- Experience building dashboards in Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
- Clear communicator who can explain findings to non-technical partners and clients
- Self-starter thriving in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
- Experience with MMM platforms such as Meridian, Robyn, PyMC-Marketing, Recast, or Measured (strong plus)
