Senior Business Intelligence Analyst Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior business intelligence analyst in Ohio?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in business analytics, information systems, or computer science, then building several years of experience as a BI analyst before stepping into a senior role. Ohio does not require a state-issued license for this position. Many Ohio employers, particularly in Columbus's insurance and financial services corridor and Cleveland's healthcare sector, treat proficiency certifications from Microsoft or Tableau as a concrete differentiator when evaluating senior candidates.
How much do senior business intelligence analysts make in Ohio?
Senior business intelligence analysts in Ohio earn a median of about $102,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,710 for the lowest 10% to over $160,650 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior business intelligence analysts in Ohio?
Employers hiring senior business intelligence analysts in Ohio right now include Medpace, DSV, and CBIZ, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's concentration of insurance carriers, large health systems, and national retailers means ongoing demand for analysts who can work with complex enterprise data environments.
Which Ohio cities have the most senior business intelligence analyst jobs?
Cincinnati, Columbus, and Independence have the most senior business intelligence analyst openings in Ohio. Columbus drives the largest share due to its headquarters concentration in insurance, financial services, and retail, while Cleveland's extensive hospital networks and Cincinnati's consumer goods and logistics companies generate consistent senior-level demand across both metro areas.
Are there remote senior business intelligence analyst jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than most fields. Senior business intelligence analyst work is inherently desk-based and output-driven, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 53% of senior business intelligence analyst openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly Ohio employers have adopted flexible work for analytics roles. The most remote-compatible work tends to involve dashboard development, reporting automation, and ad hoc data modeling rather than embedded team collaboration.
How can I get hired as a senior business intelligence analyst in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a junior or associate BI analyst role, which large Ohio employers in Columbus such as Nationwide, Cardinal Health, and L Brands routinely post for candidates with foundational SQL and data visualization skills. Lateral moves from data analyst, reporting analyst, or financial analyst positions are common stepping stones. Building a portfolio of self-directed projects using public datasets and earning a Tableau Desktop Specialist or Microsoft Power BI certification before applying gives Ohio hiring managers a concrete basis for considering candidates without deep work history in BI specifically.
Where can I find and apply to senior business intelligence analyst jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to senior business intelligence analyst jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
