Strategic Sourcing Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategic sourcing manager in New York?
Most strategic sourcing managers in New York start with a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, finance, or a related field, then build experience in procurement analyst or category specialist roles. New York has no state-issued license for this role, so advancement comes through demonstrated results and credentials like the CPSM from the Institute for Supply Management or the CSCP from APICS, both of which are recognized by major New York employers.
How much do strategic sourcing managers make in New York?
Strategic sourcing managers in New York earn a median of about $166,300 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $102,800 for the lowest 10% to over $282,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire strategic sourcing managers in New York?
Employers hiring strategic sourcing managers in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, Amazon, and Bloomberg, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, global pharmaceutical companies, and large media and tech firms makes it one of the deepest markets in the country for procurement talent.
Which New York cities have the most strategic sourcing manager jobs?
New York and Webster have the most strategic sourcing manager openings in New York. New York City dominates due to the density of financial services, healthcare systems, and corporate headquarters, while White Plains draws openings from large consumer goods and pharmaceutical companies based in Westchester County, and Albany sees demand from state government agencies and regional health networks.
Are there remote strategic sourcing manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, since strategic sourcing work is primarily analytical, contract-driven, and conducted through digital procurement platforms rather than on a physical site. About 17% of strategic sourcing manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Supplier negotiation, spend analysis, and RFP management are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a strategic sourcing manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a procurement analyst or purchasing coordinator role at a large New York employer, where exposure to RFP processes, vendor management, and spend data builds the foundation for a sourcing management track. Major New York institutions like New York-Presbyterian, Citigroup, and large city agencies run rotational operations programs that place early-career candidates in procurement functions. Completing the CPSM certification while in a junior role signals seriousness to hiring managers and opens doors faster than experience alone.
