Strategic Sourcing Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategic sourcing manager in Texas?
Most strategic sourcing managers in Texas enter the field through a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or operations, then build experience in procurement analyst or buyer roles before moving into management. Texas has no state-issued license for this role, but employers consistently prefer candidates who hold the Certified Professional in Supply Management credential offered by the Institute for Supply Management. Large Texas-based employers in energy, defense, and technology typically promote from within their procurement teams.
How much do strategic sourcing managers make in Texas?
Strategic sourcing managers in Texas earn a median of about $134,670 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $86,340 for the lowest 10% to over $212,340 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire strategic sourcing managers in Texas?
Employers hiring strategic sourcing managers in Texas right now include Lennox, CEMEX, and Energy Transfer, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 energy companies, major defense contractors, and global technology firms means consistent, year-round demand for sourcing professionals at multiple seniority levels.
Which Texas cities have the most strategic sourcing manager jobs?
Houston and Richardson have the most strategic sourcing manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense cluster of energy, petrochemical, and industrial companies that require large procurement operations, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from corporate headquarters in technology, finance, and logistics, and San Antonio's defense installations and healthcare systems drive steady openings in that market.
Are there remote strategic sourcing manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many comparable management roles, since strategic sourcing work is largely analytical and relationship-driven rather than tied to a physical site. About 20% of strategic sourcing manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting broad employer comfort with offsite procurement work. Category management, contract analysis, and supplier performance tracking are the functions most commonly offered in a remote or hybrid arrangement.
How can I get hired as a strategic sourcing manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a procurement analyst or junior buyer role at a large Texas employer and building category expertise from there. Companies like ExxonMobil, Raytheon Technologies, and Texas-based hospital systems run structured rotational procurement programs that accept candidates with limited direct experience. A supply chain degree from a Texas university, a CPSM certification in progress, or demonstrated experience with contract management tools can accelerate that transition into a sourcing management track.
Where can I find and apply to strategic sourcing manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to strategic sourcing manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and metro areas. Find roles that fit your experience level and target sector, then apply directly to each employer through the listing.
