Kubernetes Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a kubernetes engineer in Texas?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a kubernetes engineer in Texas. The typical path starts with a degree or intensive program in computer science, information technology, or software engineering, followed by hands-on experience with container platforms and cloud infrastructure. Earning a Certified Kubernetes Administrator credential from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation is widely recognized by Texas employers and strengthens a candidate's profile considerably at every stage.
How much do kubernetes engineers make in Texas?
Kubernetes engineers in Texas earn a median of about $132,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,600 for the lowest 10% to over $183,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire kubernetes engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring kubernetes engineers in Texas right now include Apple, Amsys Innovative Solutions, and Government Employees Insurance Company (Geico), based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of defense contractors, large financial institutions, and technology headquarters means openings appear at both enterprise scale and fast-growing mid-size companies across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most kubernetes engineer jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Richardson have the most kubernetes engineer openings in Texas. Austin's dense technology sector drives volume there, Dallas draws from a large base of financial services firms and corporate headquarters, and Houston's energy and aerospace industries support a growing cloud engineering workforce that increasingly relies on container orchestration at scale.
Are there remote kubernetes engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 20% of kubernetes engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally the work translates to distributed environments. Platform engineering, cluster monitoring, and infrastructure automation are the sub-areas most consistently offered with remote flexibility by Texas employers.
How can I get hired as a kubernetes engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from an adjacent role such as Linux system administrator, DevOps engineer, or cloud support technician, where you already touch container workflows. Large Texas employers like Dell Technologies and defense contractors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area often post associate-level infrastructure or DevOps positions that grow into Kubernetes work. Building a portfolio of personal cluster projects and earning the Certified Kubernetes Administrator credential before applying gives candidates without professional Kubernetes experience a credible, concrete differentiator.
