Insurance Assistant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance assistant in Texas?
Most Texas employers require insurance assistants to hold or quickly obtain a Property and Casualty or Life and Health license issued by the Texas Department of Insurance. You earn that license by completing a state-approved pre-licensing course, passing the relevant TDI exam, and submitting a license application. A high school diploma meets the minimum education bar, though agencies handling commercial accounts often prefer candidates with some college coursework in business or finance.
Which companies hire insurance assistants in Texas?
Companies currently hiring insurance assistants in Texas include Godot Consulting, Farmers Insurance, and USAA, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Texas's large base of independent agencies, regional carriers, and corporate insurance operations across Houston and Dallas creates steady hiring across personal lines, commercial lines, and claims support functions.
Which Texas cities have the most insurance assistant jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Irving have the most insurance assistant openings in Texas. Houston's concentration of energy-sector businesses and large carrier regional offices drives high commercial lines demand, while Dallas anchors a dense cluster of insurance company headquarters and independent brokerages, and San Antonio's steady growth in financial services and the presence of USAA generates consistent openings across personal lines and claims support.
Are there remote insurance assistant jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many similar roles, since much of the work involves policy documentation, client correspondence, and data entry that translates well to remote settings. About 47% of insurance assistant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting growing employer flexibility across the sector. Roles focused on claims processing and policy servicing tend to be the most remote-compatible, while positions that involve in-person client meetings or agency front-desk duties remain largely on-site.
How can I get hired as a insurance assistant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Texas Department of Insurance Property and Casualty license before you apply, which signals readiness even without prior agency experience. Large Texas carriers and franchise agencies like State Farm and Allstate regularly bring on unlicensed candidates and sponsor the TDI exam as part of onboarding. Lateral moves from customer service, banking, or administrative support roles are common entry points, and candidates who can demonstrate familiarity with client-facing communication or basic data management stand out at independent agencies across Houston and Dallas.
Where can I find and apply to insurance assistant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to insurance assistant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
