Platform Developer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a platform developer in Texas?
Platform developer roles in Texas do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skill. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, though strong portfolios from bootcamps or self-study also open doors. Earning cloud certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is especially valued by Texas employers in energy, finance, and enterprise technology.
How much do platform developers make in Texas?
Platform developers in Texas earn a median of about $132,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,600 for the lowest 10% to over $183,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire platform developers in Texas?
Employers hiring platform developers in Texas right now include DatamanUSA, Infosys, and K&L GATES, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, energy companies, and financial technology firms makes it one of the more active states for platform engineering roles year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most platform developer jobs?
Austin, Plano, and San Antonio have the most platform developer openings in Texas. Austin's dense technology company ecosystem drives the largest share of postings, while Dallas benefits from its major corporate headquarters in telecom, financial services, and enterprise software, and Houston's energy sector has expanded significantly into digital platform and cloud infrastructure roles.
Are there remote platform developer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 20% of platform developer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that platform work is largely code-and-collaboration-based rather than on-site. The roles most commonly offered remotely include cloud infrastructure engineering, API development, and DevOps platform work, where the entire job runs through terminals and collaborative tooling.
How can I get hired as a platform developer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior developer role within a Texas company's engineering team, often reached through an internship or a new-graduate rotational program. Large Texas employers in Austin and Dallas, including enterprise software firms and financial technology companies, regularly run structured early-career programs. Building a public GitHub portfolio with infrastructure or API projects and earning an entry-level AWS or Azure certification gives candidates a meaningful edge when competing for those roles.
Where can I find and apply to platform developer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to platform developer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location preferences, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
