About Watershed
Watershed is the enterprise sustainability platform. Companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens use Watershed to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics for voluntary and regulatory reporting including CSRD, and drive real decarbonization. We are looking for team members who love product-building, want to work hard at a mission-oriented startup, and will collaborate with us in shaping the culture of a growing team.
We have offices in San Francisco, New York, Denver, London, Paris, Berlin, Sydney, Mexico City, and remote team members across the US and Europe. We hope that you'll be interested in joining us!
The role
Watershed is a software platform for running a world-class climate program. We measure our success in the carbon reduction achievements of our customers. We are looking for team members to join our team focused on delivering outcomes for our Financial Institution customers.
You’ll work on the team turning Watershed’s data layer into an intelligence platform: BI-grade querying, AI-powered discovery and analysis, and the schema architecture underneath it all. The goal is for customers to get answers inside Watershed—not export to Excel.
What you could work on:
Build new interactive data visualizations to help climate leads understand their company's emissions.
Build APIs to unify carbon data access for customers and other engineers.
Build tools that help financial institutions measure and report emissions across their portfolio companies.
Build tools for customers to effectively ingest and interpret business data.
You will:
Ship code to production on day one
Collaborate with product, design, climate science, and data science to build and iterate on software that helps our customers understand their climate data
You might be a fit if you:
Have 6+ years of software engineering industry experience, preferably in Node.js web development or data pipelines
Have experience building scalable software starting from user needs
Are excited to join a startup and are ready to help evolve a growing engineering team
This role will be based in our New York City office.
Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles)
Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week. Certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description if so.
What’s the interview process like?
It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience interview (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel. We prioritize transparency and lack of surprise throughout the process.
What if I need accommodations for my interview?
At Watershed, we are dedicated to ensuring an inclusive recruitment process. We provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, mental health needs, religious observances, neurodivergence, or pregnancy-related support requirements. If you need assistance during your process, please contact your recruiter.

Which New York cities have the most senior fullstack software engineer jobs?

New York City drives the overwhelming majority of listings because of its concentration of fintech headquarters, global media companies, and enterprise technology firms, while any smaller markets on that list typically reflect anchor employers, state government technology offices, or university-linked research institutions pulling local hiring.
Are there remote senior fullstack software engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of senior fullstack software engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally this work translates to distributed teams. The portions of the role most likely to remain fully remote are frontend development, API integration, and independent feature work, while architecture reviews and onboarding tend to pull engineers into the office periodically.

The most realistic entry path is landing a junior or associate software engineer role at a New York employer and building toward senior through demonstrated delivery. Large New York institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Spotify, and Bloomberg run structured early-career engineering programs that accept candidates from bootcamps and non-traditional backgrounds alongside four-year graduates. Lateral moves from QA engineering, DevOps, or technical support roles within the same company are also a documented route, particularly when combined with a strong GitHub portfolio showing full-stack project work.
