Salary Range: $60,000-65,000

The Manager of Exhibition Design works with the Curatorial, Collections, & Exhibitions team to collaboratively create and implement design concepts for exhibitions. The Eiteljorg Museum’s exhibitions include a wide range of multi-media, interdisciplinary projects, including contemporary art, fashion, historical art, material culture, and history. Through a collaborative process working with curators, museum staff, and outside advisors, the Manager of Exhibition Design will craft layouts and exhibition spaces that reflect the mission and institutional brand of the Eiteljorg Museum for both temporary exhibitions and permanent collection galleries. The Manager will also assist with compiling exhibition budgets and will assist with exhibition installation and deinstallation. Design support for all areas of the institution (festivals, programs, marketing, public relations, development, museum store, etc.) will be provided as resources allow.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills; adept at collaborating with and contributing to a team environment.
• Proficient with computer aided design programs including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
• Proficient with 2D and/or 3D modeling software for scaled floor plans and production drawings for exhibit environments, casework, furniture, and props.
• Experience working with visitor-centered design in a museum or arts organization.
• Skills in gallery lighting, photography editing, art installation, and other aspects of exhibition development and production are desired.
• Ability to coordinate and manage special projects from conceptualization through implementation.
• Precise attention to detail, with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications and Work Experience Requirements:

• Advanced degree; or equivalent education and/or experience in exhibition and graphic design.
• Extensive museum experience (or equivalent) in exhibition design with general knowledge of the conservation needs and/or handling of museum objects, a broad understanding of visitor behavior and needs.

Physical and Work Environment Demands:

The Gallery Attendant position requires frequent standing and walking throughout the museum for extended periods, including regular patrols of galleries, entrances, public spaces, and outdoor areas. The position involves climbing stairs, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Employees must possess sufficient vision and hearing to observe visitor activity, monitor galleries, read security displays, and respond appropriately to emergencies. The role requires regular use of radios, telephones, computers, and security equipment.

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions when monitoring entrances or supporting outdoor events. Noise levels are generally moderate but may increase during special events and public programs.

Although the position generally follows a standard work week, flexibility is required to accommodate events, meetings, and other activities that may occur outside of regular business hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
