Some attorneys enter through reciprocal admission from a neighboring state bar. From there, candidates typically build experience in insurance, fintech, or healthcare law at a Connecticut-based company or firm before stepping into a senior product counsel role.
How much do senior product counsels make in Connecticut?
Senior product counsels in Connecticut earn a median of about $163,600 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $91,180 for the lowest 10% to over $342,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior product counsels in Connecticut?
Connecticut senior product counsel roles are posted by Jobot, Pratt & Whitney, and Trexquant Investment LP and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Connecticut's concentration of insurance carriers and financial services companies means in-house legal departments here are among the most active in the country for this type of role.
Which Connecticut cities have the most senior product counsel jobs?
Hartford, Stamford, and Greenwich account for the largest share of senior product counsel openings in Connecticut. Hartford leads because it is home to the headquarters and major operations of many of the country's largest insurance carriers, while Stamford draws from its dense concentration of financial services firms, and Bridgeport benefits from its proximity to both markets and its growing healthcare sector.
Are there remote senior product counsel jobs in Connecticut?
Yes, and more than many legal roles, since senior product counsel work is fundamentally desk-based, document-intensive, and conducted through virtual collaboration with product and engineering teams. About 46% of senior product counsel openings tied to Connecticut are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broad employer comfort with distributed legal work. Advisory work on product development cycles and regulatory reviews is especially well suited to remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a senior product counsel in Connecticut with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate in-house counsel role at one of Connecticut's large insurance or financial services employers, where legal rotational programs at companies like Aetna or Cigna expose attorneys to product, compliance, and regulatory teams. Candidates transitioning from regulatory affairs, compliance analyst, or outside firm roles in insurance or fintech law are well positioned. Holding an active Connecticut bar license and pursuing a certificate in healthcare or financial regulation from a Connecticut law school strengthens any application.
