Senior Risk Consultant Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior risk consultant in Arizona?
Most senior risk consultants in Arizona enter the field with a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related discipline, then build several years of experience in risk analysis, audit, or compliance roles. Arizona does not require a state-issued license specifically for risk consulting, but employers consistently favor candidates who hold a recognized professional credential such as the Certified Risk Manager designation through the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research, the Financial Risk Manager credential, or the CRISC certification. Industry experience in Arizona's dominant sectors, including healthcare, financial services, and defense contracting, accelerates advancement significantly.
How much do senior risk consultants make in Arizona?
Senior risk consultants in Arizona earn a median of about $102,800 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,400 for the lowest 10% to over $165,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior risk consultants in Arizona?
Employers hiring senior risk consultants in Arizona right now include Northern Trust, El Rio Community Health Center, and Sciata, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Arizona's concentration of large insurance carriers, regional banks, hospital networks, and defense contractors creates a broad and varied hiring base for experienced risk professionals.
Which Arizona cities have the most senior risk consultant jobs?
Tempe, Tucson, and Kingman account for the largest share of senior risk consultant openings in Arizona. Phoenix dominates due to its dense cluster of financial services headquarters, major hospital systems, and Fortune 500 regional offices, while Scottsdale's concentration of insurance and wealth management firms and Tucson's defense and government contracting sector each produce a steady stream of openings for experienced risk professionals.
Are there remote senior risk consultant jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, given that senior risk consulting is primarily an analytical and advisory function. About 0% of senior risk consultant openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of most risk assessment and reporting work. Roles focused on enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, and third-party risk tend to offer the most location flexibility, while positions requiring on-site audits or client-facing engagement in regulated industries lean toward hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a senior risk consultant in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a risk analyst or junior compliance analyst role at one of Arizona's large financial institutions, hospital systems, or insurance carriers, where internal development programs often advance strong performers into senior consulting functions. Banner Health, American Express, and large regional banks operating in Phoenix all recruit entry-level analysts who move into risk consulting over time. Earning an entry-level credential such as the Associate in Risk Management early in your career, combined with experience in adjacent roles like internal audit, financial analysis, or regulatory affairs, positions you competitively for a step up into a senior risk consultant title.
