Rotating Equipment Service Technician (Centrifugal & Rotary Screw)

At Ingersoll Rand, within our Industrial Technologies and Services Division, you’ll support customers who rely on rotary screw, reciprocating, and Centac/ECC compressors every day. Your expertise turns downtime into uptime—and customers into long‑term partners.
Is This You?
- You’ve spent 2+ years troubleshooting industrial or commercial mechanical systems.
- You’re comfortable around 120/208/240/480‑volt systems and can read schematics.
- You like using precision tools to isolate faults and verify performance.
- You communicate clearly—on paper and in person—and your reports are billing‑ready.
- You take pride in integrity, safe work practices, and cost‑smart travel habits.
What You’ll Tackle
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair compressors and auxiliary equipment (dryers, filtration, cooling towers) at customer sites.
- Apply OEM operations and parts manuals to perform high‑quality service.
- Provide technical guidance to customers, prospects, field sales, and service trainees.
- Diagnose issues independently; recommend and execute corrective actions.
- Submit accurate timecards/expenses weekly; manage company assets, including credit cards and, if applicable, a company vehicle.
Must‑Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license held for 12+ months with no major/frequent violations (e.g., DUI within 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple recent infractions/preventable collisions within 3 years).
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms with noise, extreme weather exposure, precarious locations, and high‑voltage environments per NFPA or equivalent standards.
- Physical capability: frequent use of hands/fingers; walking, stooping, kneeling; and lifting/moving per safety policy limits.
Core Strengths
- Microsoft Office fluency; confident with smartphones/tablets and connected tools.
- Customer service excellence—communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Mechanical proficiency to learn, diagnose, and service compressor systems and machinery.
Nice to Have
- EPA 608 and/or F‑GAS 303/2008/CE/ISHRAE certifications; refrigeration experience.
- Hands‑on experience with compressed air systems, centrifugal technologies, and controls; startup expertise with rotary and centrifugal compressors.
- Familiarity with dryers, cooling towers, and filtration systems.
- Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC background: AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams/schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity/controls, refrigeration systems; refrigerant certification.
- Military or equivalent mechanical experience; strong skills without formal schooling considered.
Schedule & Travel
- Training travel of 1–2 weeks per year total (approx. 5–10%).
- Shared on‑call rotation with the local service team for evening/weekend emergencies.
Tools & Tech You’ll Use
- VFDs and PLCs to monitor and control systems.
- Electrical systems at 120/208/240/480 volts.
- Mechanical/electrical/pneumatic troubleshooting, electrical repair, and maintenance practices.
- EPA compliance knowledge.
