Service Technician Jobs in Charleston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a service technician job in Charleston?
Focus your search on Charleston's North Charleston industrial corridor, where HVAC, commercial refrigeration, and equipment service firms concentrate, and on the medical device and healthcare facilities expanding across the peninsula and Mount Pleasant. Employers there value hands-on certifications, clean driving records, and familiarity with the region's mix of hospitality and healthcare clients. Applying directly to local service companies and facility management contractors gives you the fastest path in.
Which companies hire service technicians in Charleston?
Employers hiring service technicians in Charleston right now include WOW! Internet Cable and Phone, NCR, and EMCOR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charleston's hiring mix reflects its economy, blending national service contractors, regional HVAC and equipment companies, and large healthcare and hospitality employers that maintain in-house technical teams.
Are there remote service technician jobs in Charleston?
Yes, but they are uncommon, since most service technician roles require on-site equipment access, driving to client locations, or hands-on diagnostics. About 0% of service technician openings tied to Charleston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, typically covering roles in technical support, warranty coordination, or field service dispatch rather than direct repair work.
How can I get a service technician job in Charleston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charleston is landing a helper or apprentice role with one of the area's residential HVAC or commercial refrigeration contractors in North Charleston or Summerville, where employers routinely train from the ground up. Local facility management companies serving Charleston's hotels and medical campuses also hire entry-level technicians willing to do routine maintenance rounds. A basic EPA 608 certification and a clean driving record are the two details that most consistently move entry-level candidates to the top of the list.
