Site Supervisor Jobs in South Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a site supervisor in South Dakota?
Most site supervisors in South Dakota move into the role through field experience in construction, civil work, or a related trade, combined with a credential like an OSHA 30-Hour certification. South Dakota does not require a state-issued site supervisor license, but many employers expect candidates to hold a construction management degree or an associate degree in a building trade, along with demonstrated experience leading crews on commercial or infrastructure projects.
Which companies hire site supervisors in South Dakota?
Employers hiring site supervisors in South Dakota right now include Mars, Amazon, and SARGENT ELECTRIC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. South Dakota's active infrastructure and commercial construction sector means established regional contractors and energy developers maintain ongoing demand for experienced site supervisors.
Which South Dakota cities have the most site supervisor jobs?
The cities with the most site supervisor openings in South Dakota are Brookings, Canistota, and Elk Point. Sioux Falls drives the largest share of listings due to its concentrated commercial and residential construction activity, while Rapid City supports steady demand through tourism infrastructure and public works projects, and Aberdeen draws openings from regional agricultural and industrial facility development.
Are there remote site supervisor jobs in South Dakota?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of site supervisor openings tied to South Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects how hands-on the role is by nature. The portions most suited to remote work are preconstruction planning, scheduling coordination, and reporting, while active site oversight requires physical presence on the job site.
How can I get hired as a site supervisor in South Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a construction laborer, foreman's assistant, or field coordinator with a South Dakota contractor and building toward a supervisory role from the ground up. Large regional firms like Journey Group and Mortenson Construction regularly bring on crew leads and assistant superintendents who grow into site supervisor positions. Earning an OSHA 30-Hour certification and completing an associate degree in construction management from South Dakota State University or Southeast Technical College gives candidates a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to site supervisor jobs in South Dakota?
You can find and apply to site supervisor jobs in South Dakota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
