Position Information
Hiring Department: Marketing and Communications
Reports To: Assistant Director of Editorial and Digital Content
Job Location: El Paso, Texas (On Site)
Posting End Date: Open until filled. This posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm. Flexibility is required on evenings and weekends.
FLSA status: Exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and education.

Position Summary
The Coordinator of Social Media Marketing works on the UTEP Creative Services team to create content, and cultivate the creation of content by UTEP ambassadors, for Social Media for the specific purpose of undergraduate student recruitment. The Coordinator is responsible for telling UTEP’s awesome student experiences stories in authentic and effective ways. The coordinator reports to the Assistant Director for Editorial Services.
Create and manage the creation of social media content for UTEP-owned social media channels in support of recruitment goals through awareness and conveyance of recruitment-specific strategic messages.
Set up online social media groups for prospects cohorts and serve as an online community manager for those groups.
Working closely with the AVP of Enrollment Marketing and Creative Services, develop and execute a student ambassador program that encourages students to share their UTEP student experiences on social media, and coaches those students in content creation and network distribution.
Monitor and evaluate recruitment social media marketing activity, with a priority on recruitment activity.
Assist the Editorial Services in the creation of social media marketing materials in support of university goals as needed, including event promotion, fundraising and other.
Collaborate and coordinate with the Assistant Director of Digital Content on the Media Relations team to ensure maximum synergy on UTEP’s institutional social media channels.
Define KPIs and provide regular reporting on social media marketing efforts to marketing and enrollment management leadership.
Understand and ensure that UTEP is complying with all governing policies, regulations and laws in social media marketing.
Support the Assistant Director of Digital Content in providing social media training to authorized UTEP social media users.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Skills and Experience
- Expert-level familiarity with social media platforms popular among high school and college aged students, including Instagram and TikTok.
- High-level familiarity with Facebook, X and LinkedIn.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with undergraduate and perspective undergraduate populations.
- The ability to create reels and other short form social media.
- Familiarity with best practices regarding social media influencers.
- Related experience in managing online volunteers and influencers.
- Understanding of KPI concepts.
- Excellent writing skills, particularly short form and online genres.
Performance Metrics
- Growth in reach, engagement, and recruitment-oriented actions (link clicks, event RSVPs, applications started) from social channels.
- Volume and quality of student-generated content through the ambassador program.
- Quality and timeliness of KPI reports and insights delivered to leadership.
- Effectiveness of content in authentically conveying UTEP student experiences.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field required
and
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in social media content creation and community management, preferably in higher education or recruitment marketing.
