If so, Sandia National Laboratories' Science and Information Engineering System's group is seeking a motivated Software Systems Engineer to join the Design and Development Solutions team in analyzing, designing, developing, and deploying innovative software solutions to meet our mission customers' needs.

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer with strong expertise in SQL and data modeling to design, develop, and optimize data solutions that drive efficient data access and high performance. The ideal candidate will work closely with business and technical teams to build scalable data models and integration solutions, troubleshoot data quality and performance issues, and develop APIs to support seamless data flow across systems.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Write and optimize SQL and query language scripts to enhance data accessibility and performance.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to design new virtual data integration solutions.
• Document functional and technical details for data integration solutions clearly and comprehensively.
• Support troubleshooting efforts related to query performance and data quality issues.
• Develop and maintain APIs to enable data access and integration across systems.

• The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

$87,400 - $168,800

• Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

• Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

• 4+ years of SQL experience across OLTP, data warehouse, or big data environments
• 4+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or SQL Developer role
• 2+ years of experience writing medium to complex SQL queries or stored procedures
• Strong understanding of query optimization techniques
• Experience supporting REST API data services
• Background in troubleshooting data integrity, quality, and performance issues
• Experience working in agile environments
• Familiarity with Jira and GitLab
• Experience working with both technical staff and business users to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative, self-directed approach
• Experience with Denodo or similar data virtualization platforms, creating virtual data views and ensuring data quality and consistency
• Java and Python development experience
• Experience working with Hadoop or MongoDB
