Software Product Manager Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a software product manager in Minnesota?
Software product management has no state-issued license or registration in Minnesota, so the path runs through education and employer credentialing. Most Minnesota employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or engineering. From there, earning a Certified Scrum Product Owner credential or a Product Management certification from an accredited program strengthens your application. Many candidates move into the role from business analysis, software engineering, or UX roles within Minnesota's large technology and healthcare employers.
Which companies hire software product managers in Minnesota?
Employers hiring software product managers in Minnesota right now include Leidos, ASSA ABLOY, and Securian Financial, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in the Twin Cities, particularly in healthcare, retail, and financial services, means product management demand here is driven by large, established enterprise organizations rather than early-stage startups.
Which Minnesota cities have the most software product manager jobs?
Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Eden Prairie account for the largest share of software product manager openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro dominates because major corporate headquarters in Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, and downtown Minneapolis house the product organizations for companies like UnitedHealth Group, Target, and Ameriprise, while Rochester's openings are concentrated around Mayo Clinic's digital health and technology divisions.
Are there remote software product manager jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields, because software product management is fundamentally a desk and collaboration role that translates well to distributed teams. About 86% of software product manager openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly employers in this role have adopted flexible work models. Discovery, roadmap planning, and stakeholder review work are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a software product manager in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a lateral move from a closely adjacent role such as business analyst, software engineer, UX researcher, or technical project coordinator, where you already collaborate with product teams. Minnesota employers like UnitedHealth Group, Target, and Ecolab run associate product manager and rotational technology leadership programs that are designed for early-career candidates. Building a portfolio of case studies and earning a Certified Scrum Product Owner credential gives candidates without direct experience a concrete edge when applying to these programs.
Where can I find and apply to software product manager jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to software product manager jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred location, and industry focus, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
