Software Product Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a software product manager in New York?
Software product management has no state-issued license in New York, so entry depends on education and experience. Most employers in New York's fintech and enterprise software sectors look for a bachelor's degree in a technical or business field, followed by experience in an adjacent role such as business analyst, software engineer, or UX designer. A product management certification from organizations like the Association of International Product Professionals can strengthen an application.
Which companies hire software product managers in New York?
Employers hiring software product managers in New York right now include Amazon, Figma, and Datadog, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of financial institutions, media companies, and enterprise technology firms means product manager demand is distributed across a wider range of industries than in most other states.
Which New York cities have the most software product manager jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and New York account for the most software product manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is home to the largest concentration of fintech firms, major media companies, and enterprise software offices in the state, while other cities on the list tend to reflect the presence of large healthcare systems, insurers, or state government technology agencies that maintain dedicated product teams.
Are there remote software product manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 38% of software product manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed collaboration. The work that remains most commonly on-site involves stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions with engineering teams, and leadership reviews tied to New York office headquarters.
How can I get hired as a software product manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a closely adjacent role such as business analyst, QA engineer, or technical project manager at a New York employer. Large New York-based firms including JPMorgan Chase and Bloomberg run associate product manager programs that accept candidates without prior PM titles. Building a portfolio with a documented case study, even from a side project, and obtaining a recognized product management certification gives applicants without direct experience a concrete credential to point to.
Where can I find and apply to software product manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to software product manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to each one.
