Solutions Architect Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions architect in Minnesota?
Minnesota does not require a state-issued license to work as a solutions architect. The typical path begins with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years in a technical role such as systems engineer, software developer, or IT consultant. Minnesota employers, particularly in financial services and healthcare IT, place strong weight on cloud certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert alongside a portfolio of delivered architecture projects.
Which companies hire solutions architects in Minnesota?
Companies currently hiring solutions architects in Minnesota include Amazon Web Services, RBC, and EY, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in financial services, healthcare, and retail means large, established technology organizations here tend to hire solutions architects on a recurring basis rather than in isolated bursts.
Which Minnesota cities have the most solutions architect jobs?
Minneapolis, Oak Park Heights, and Eagan account for the largest share of solutions architect openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro drives the bulk of demand given the headquarters presence of major employers in healthcare, retail, and financial services, while suburban hubs like Bloomington and Minnetonka also produce consistent openings tied to large corporate campuses and technology divisions based outside the urban core.
Are there remote solutions architect jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields. Solutions architect work is largely design, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration, which translates well to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 91% of solutions architect openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making it one of the more flexible roles in the technology sector. Discovery workshops, client on-sites, and architecture reviews are the parts of the role most likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a solutions architect in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a technical role you already hold. Minnesota employers such as UnitedHealth Group, Target, and U.S. Bank regularly promote systems engineers, senior developers, and cloud engineers into associate or junior solutions architect roles. Pursuing a recognized cloud certification, contributing to internal architecture documentation, and volunteering to lead a migration or integration project within your current team are the steps that most consistently open the door without a formal architecture title on your resume.
Where can I find and apply to solutions architect jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to solutions architect jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings updated regularly. Search the listings to identify roles that match your background, seniority level, and preferred location or remote arrangement, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
