Entry Level Special Education Instructional Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level special education instructional assistant job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have completed coursework or a supervised practicum in special education, early childhood development, or a related field. Highlighting any hands-on experience with students who have IEPs, behavioral support plans, or assistive technology gives you a real edge. A paraprofessional certification or a passing score on a state basic skills assessment also strengthens entry level applications significantly.
Which companies hire entry level special education instructional assistants?
Companies hiring entry level special education instructional assistants right now include Ryder System, University of Florida, and Amentum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring is driven by public school districts, charter networks, and private therapeutic day schools that staff classrooms year-round and regularly onboard candidates without prior professional experience.
Are there remote entry level special education instructional assistant jobs?
Yes, though most roles at this level are on-site given the hands-on nature of the work. About 52% of entry level special education instructional assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve virtual tutoring programs, telehealth support services, or administrative paraprofessional roles that do not require direct in-classroom assistance.
Are these new grad special education instructional assistant jobs?
Yes, these include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts an internship, student teaching placement, or supervised practicum in lieu of paid work history, and does not require a full teaching license. Look for listings that mention paraprofessional, instructional aide, or educational assistant alongside an openness to entry level applicants.
Which industries hire the most entry level special education instructional assistants?
Entry Level special education instructional assistant roles concentrate in Education, Technology & Software, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring at the entry level because federal funding mandates for students with disabilities create steady demand for classroom support staff, and turnover in paraprofessional positions opens frequent opportunities for new candidates.
