Entry Level Adjunct Professor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level adjunct professor job?
Entry level adjunct professor positions typically require a master's degree or higher in the subject area you want to teach, along with any relevant teaching assistant experience, tutoring work, or demonstrated expertise in the field. Tailoring your application materials to highlight classroom presence, course design samples, or industry credentials gives you a clear edge over candidates who submit only a generic CV at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level adjunct professors?
Companies hiring entry level adjunct professors right now include Bentley University, The City University of New York, and Merrimack College, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Community colleges, regional universities, and online education providers tend to be the most active hirers at this level, as they rely on adjunct faculty to staff a wide range of introductory and specialized courses.
Are there remote entry level adjunct professor jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by discipline and institution. About 1% of entry level adjunct professor openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with online-focused colleges and continuing education programs driving most of that demand. Subjects like business, writing, and technology tend to have more fully remote options than lab-based or clinical fields.
Are these new grad adjunct professor jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles designed for candidates just entering the field. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts teaching assistantships or internships in lieu of full teaching history, or values a strong portfolio of syllabi, lesson plans, or subject-matter credentials over an established academic record.
