Speech Therapist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a speech therapist in Pennsylvania?
You must hold an active license from the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology to practice as a speech therapist in Pennsylvania. The path begins with earning a master's degree in speech-language pathology from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation, completing a supervised Clinical Fellowship, and passing the Praxis examination in speech-language pathology. Applicants submit their license application through the Pennsylvania Department of State.
How much do speech therapists make in Pennsylvania?
Speech therapists in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $92,960 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,650 for the lowest 10% to over $130,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire speech therapists in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring speech therapists in Pennsylvania right now include OneWell Health Care, FOX Rehabilitation, and WellSpan Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Pennsylvania's large integrated health systems and its extensive network of public school districts together account for a significant share of ongoing openings across the state.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most speech therapist jobs?
York, Philadelphia, and Wyomissing have the most speech therapist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its concentration of academic medical centers, large school districts, and pediatric specialty hospitals, while Pittsburgh's strength comes from UPMC's broad rehabilitation network, and the Lehigh Valley draws volume from Lehigh Valley Health Network and a dense suburban school district market.
Are there remote speech therapist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields because much of the work involves in-person assessment and hands-on treatment. About 2% of speech therapist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting a meaningful but limited teletherapy segment. School-based teletherapy and adult telepractice for fluency and language clients represent the portions of the role most suited to fully remote delivery.
How can I get hired as a speech therapist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
