INTRODUCTION
“I believe, if you zoom out into the future, and you look back, and you ask the question, ‘What was Appleʼs greatest contribution to mankind?ʼ it will be about health.” - Tim Cook, 2019.
We build the engine that powers every health or fitness application from Apple and our third party developers. We hear from our users that we are helping them live better, get stronger, remember to care for themselves, and even save their lives. Weʼre doing it while keeping their health data safe, accessible and private, and weʼre pushing the technology and health care industries to do the same. If you are looking for a role where you can use and develop your engineering acumen while changing the world for the better, then look no further!
We are looking for talented engineers to keep HealthKit - the very heart of everything related to health and fitness on Apple platforms - secure, efficient, and ever-growing. We work with hardware and software teams throughout Apple as well as our developer ecosystem to deliver ever more functionality that is deeply integrated with iOS, watchOS and all the rest without sacrificing privacy, power, or performance.

- Designing and delivering comprehensive test suites in collaboration with our quality assurance and engineering teams.
- Designing logical, scalable, forward-thinking APIs that serve our developers’ needs.
- Participating in peer review of architecture, API, and individual software changes.
- Collaborating with and advising other teams across Apple, including Design, Privacy, and Security, as well as domain experts in health and fitness.

Verify your degree's CIP code eligibility
Not every computer science or engineering degree automatically qualifies. Check your program's Classification of Instructional Programs code against the STEM Designated Degree Program list published by USCIS to confirm your specific major is covered before you apply.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
Ask each recruiter directly whether the company is enrolled in E-Verify before your offer stage. Employers can verify their own enrollment status through the E-Verify portal, and you need written confirmation before your DSO can approve your STEM OPT extension.
Target mobile teams at E-Verify enrolled employers on Migrate Mate
Filter your job search for Mobile Engineer roles at companies already confirmed as E-Verify participants. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified E-Verify enrollment so you're not wasting applications on companies that can't legally onboard you.
Negotiate your I-983 training plan before day one
Your employer must sign a training plan outlining your learning objectives and supervision structure. Raise this during the offer phase, not after you start. Mobile Engineer plans should specify the platforms, SDKs, and product areas you'll develop skills in.
Apply 90 days before your OPT EAD expires
USCIS requires your STEM OPT extension application to be filed at least before your initial OPT EAD expires, but submitting 90 days early protects you if processing runs long. Your DSO must recommend the extension in SEVIS before you can file I-765.
Benchmark your offer against DOL prevailing wages
STEM OPT employers must pay wages comparable to similarly employed U.S. workers. Pull the wage level for Mobile Engineer roles in your city using the OFLC Wage Search and cross-reference with Bureau of Labor Statistics data before evaluating any offer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Mobile Engineer role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Yes, if your underlying degree is in a STEM-designated field such as computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline with a qualifying CIP code. The role itself must also provide practical training related to your degree. Check the STEM Designated Degree Program list published by USCIS to confirm your specific program qualifies before requesting the extension from your DSO.
What E-Verify requirement applies to my STEM OPT employer?
Your employer must be actively enrolled in E-Verify at the work site where you'll be employed. This is a federal requirement for all STEM OPT extensions, not just a formality. If your employer is not enrolled, they cannot legally support your extension, and your DSO cannot approve it in SEVIS. Confirm enrollment status directly with your HR contact before signing an offer letter.
What goes into an I-983 training plan for a Mobile Engineer position?
The I-983 must describe the specific skills you'll develop, the supervision structure, and how the training relates to your STEM degree. For Mobile Engineers, this typically covers platform-specific development (iOS, Android, or cross-platform frameworks), code review processes, and product lifecycle participation. Your employer completes and signs Sections 2 and 3. Your DSO keeps a copy and you must report progress every six months.
How does cap-gap protection work if I'm a STEM OPT Mobile Engineer applying for H-1B?
If your H-1B visa petition is filed and accepted before your STEM OPT EAD expires, cap-gap automatically extends your work authorization through September 30 of that fiscal year. If USCIS selects your petition and approves it, your status transitions on October 1. You can continue working as a Mobile Engineer throughout the cap-gap period without interruption, provided your employer maintains E-Verify enrollment and your I-983 remains current.
Where can I find Mobile Engineer jobs at employers set up for STEM OPT?
Migrate Mate lists Mobile Engineer roles at employers already verified for E-Verify enrollment, so you can focus your search on companies that can actually support your STEM OPT extension. Filtering by E-Verify status at the search stage saves you from investing in applications or interviews at companies that will ultimately be unable to hire you on STEM OPT.
