Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as a Senior Salesforce Developer
Verify your CIP code before applying
Your STEM OPT eligibility depends on your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code. Computer science (11.0701), information systems (11.0401), and software engineering (14.0903) all qualify. Confirm your CIP code with your DSO before targeting Senior Salesforce Developer roles.
Check E-Verify enrollment before every application
Only employers enrolled in E-Verify can legally hire you on STEM OPT. Search the E-Verify employer search tool by company name to confirm enrollment before you invest time in any application or interview process.
Target employers with Salesforce platform LCA filings
Use the OFLC Wage Search to find companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for Salesforce Developer or CRM Engineer roles. Repeated LCA filings signal established sponsorship infrastructure, not just one-off hires for this technical stack.
Build your I-983 training plan around Salesforce architecture
Your I-983 must list specific learning objectives tied to your STEM degree. Frame your plan around Apex development, Salesforce data modeling, and platform integration work so the connection between your degree program and your on-the-job training is explicit and auditable.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for E-Verify employers
Search Migrate Mate for Senior Salesforce Developer roles filtered by employers with confirmed E-Verify enrollment and STEM OPT hiring history. This cuts the research time most candidates spend manually cross-referencing company hiring pages against E-Verify records.
Negotiate your start date around cap-gap protection
If your OPT expires while your H-1B visa petition is pending, cap-gap rules extend your work authorization through September 30. Coordinate your Senior Salesforce Developer offer letter and start date with this window so you're not inadvertently out of status between authorization periods.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Salesforce Developer role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Yes, if your underlying degree is in a STEM-designated field such as computer science, management information systems, or software engineering. The role itself must also provide practical training directly related to your degree. USCIS evaluates both the job duties and your degree's CIP code, so confirm the match with your DSO before filing your STEM OPT extension application.
How do I know if a company is enrolled in E-Verify for my STEM OPT?
E-Verify enrollment is a legal requirement for all STEM OPT employers, not just a preference. You can search the E-Verify employer search tool by company name to confirm enrollment before applying. If a company isn't enrolled, they can't legally employ you on STEM OPT, and hiring you anyway would put both your status and their compliance record at risk.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for a Senior Salesforce Developer position?
Your I-983 must document specific learning objectives, supervision details, and how each training activity connects to your STEM degree. For a Senior Salesforce Developer role, this typically includes objectives around Apex programming, Salesforce architecture design, API integration, and data governance. Generic job descriptions don't satisfy the requirement. Your employer's mentor must be identified by name and title.
Can I work as a Senior Salesforce Developer on cap-gap if my OPT expires before October 1?
Yes, if your H-1B petition was filed before your OPT expired and is still pending or approved, cap-gap rules extend your STEM OPT work authorization through September 30 of that fiscal year. You must stay in the same job with the same employer during this period. Your EAD card may expire, but your authorization continues under the cap-gap extension printed on your I-20.
Where can I find Senior Salesforce Developer jobs that support STEM OPT students?
Migrate Mate lists Senior Salesforce Developer roles filtered for employers with E-Verify enrollment and demonstrated STEM OPT hiring history, so you're not manually cross-referencing job postings against compliance records. O*NET also provides occupational data for the Salesforce Developer role category if you need to document how your duties align with your STEM degree for your I-983 or DSO review.
