Strategy Manager Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a strategy manager job in Richmond?
Focus your search on Richmond's healthcare networks, regional banks and financial services firms, and the consulting practices clustered downtown and in Innsbrook. Employers in these sectors hire strategy managers to lead planning cycles, market expansion, and operational efficiency initiatives. Candidates who can demonstrate cross-functional project ownership and comfort with data-driven decision-making stand out in Richmond's mid-market environment, where generalist strategic thinking is valued as much as deep vertical expertise.
Which companies hire strategy managers in Richmond?
Employers hiring strategy managers in Richmond right now include Altria, CarMax, and Highspring, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Richmond's hiring landscape is shaped by a mix of large regional healthcare systems, Fortune 500 financial services companies, and professional services firms with local offices.
Are there remote strategy manager jobs in Richmond?
Yes, though availability varies since strategy manager roles often require regular stakeholder collaboration and in-person executive presence. About 100% of strategy manager openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader adoption of flexible work across corporate functions. The most remote-friendly parts of the role tend to be analytical and planning work, while facilitation, board reporting, and cross-departmental alignment typically pull people on-site.
How can I get a strategy manager job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is through a business analyst or associate strategy role at one of the city's large healthcare systems or financial services firms, which tend to run structured early-career programs with internal mobility into strategy functions. Lateral moves from operations, finance, or consulting into a strategy coordinator role are also common locally. A master's degree from the University of Richmond or VCU and demonstrated experience leading a project or process improvement initiative can make a meaningful difference when competing for junior strategy roles.
Which industries hire the most strategy managers in Richmond?
Richmond strategy manager roles concentrate in Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Richmond's role as a regional hub for banking and insurance, combined with the scale of its healthcare networks and a growing professional services sector, sustains consistent demand for strategy talent across these fields.
