Student Services Counselor Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a student services counselor job in Atlanta?
Focus your search on Atlanta's higher education corridor in Midtown and the Atlanta University Center, the Atlanta Public Schools district, and the city's large network of community nonprofits and workforce development organizations. Familiarity with Georgia's HOPE scholarship program and experience supporting first-generation or underrepresented students gives candidates a clear edge in this market. Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are increasingly valued across Atlanta employers.
Which companies hire student services counselors in Atlanta?
Employers hiring student services counselors in Atlanta right now include Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Bisnow, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Atlanta's hiring landscape is shaped by a high concentration of four-year universities, community colleges, large public school districts, and federally funded TRIO and college-access programs.
Are there remote student services counselor jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though opportunities are limited since most student services counselor roles require in-person advising, campus presence, or school-based work. About 50% of student services counselor openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to concentrate in virtual academic advising, online enrollment support, and ed-tech platform roles headquartered in Atlanta.
How can I get a student services counselor job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is through paraprofessional or program coordinator roles at community colleges like Georgia State University's Perimeter campuses or at TRIO-funded programs serving Atlanta's Southside and Westside communities. Peer advising positions, AmeriCorps placements with college-access nonprofits, and assistant roles in Atlanta Public Schools' student support offices all provide a practical foothold without requiring full counselor credentials.
Which industries hire the most student services counselors in Atlanta?
Most student services counselor openings in Atlanta sit in Education, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Atlanta's role as a regional hub for historically Black colleges and universities, a growing ed-tech sector, and one of the Southeast's largest public school systems drives consistent demand across all three of those sectors.
