Supply Chain Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a supply chain job in San Diego?
Focus on San Diego's strongest hiring sectors: defense contractors in Kearny Mesa, life sciences and biotech firms in Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley, and import-export operations tied to the Port of San Diego and the Otay Mesa border crossing. Candidates with experience in regulated supply chains, such as FDA-compliant cold chain or defense procurement, have a clear edge in this market over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire supply chains in San Diego?
Companies currently hiring supply chains in San Diego include Northrop Grumman, Qualcomm, and Solar Turbines, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Diego's employer mix leans toward defense primes, medical device manufacturers, and import-distribution businesses that operate near the U.S.-Mexico border.
Are there remote supply chain jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though remote work is limited for hands-on roles like warehouse coordination or port logistics, and more common for demand planning, procurement analysis, and supply chain systems work. About 25% of supply chain openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Analytical and sourcing roles at biotech and tech-adjacent firms in Sorrento Valley tend to offer the most flexibility.
How can I get a supply chain job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through logistics coordinator or inventory control roles with defense suppliers and biotech contract manufacturers in Kearny Mesa and Otay Mesa, where volume hiring creates consistent openings for candidates without deep experience. Familiarity with ERP systems and a background in any regulated environment, such as food, pharma, or manufacturing, gives applicants a genuine leg up over candidates with no industry context.
Which industries hire the most supply chains in San Diego?
San Diego supply chain roles concentrate in Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, and Medical Devices, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Defense and aerospace drive consistent volume because of the large contractor presence around Miramar and downtown, while life sciences demand has grown steadily as San Diego's biotech cluster has expanded its manufacturing and distribution footprint.
