Entry Level System Safety Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level system safety engineer job?
Entry level system safety engineer roles typically look for a degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates who stand out at this stage usually have internship experience, coursework in hazard analysis or failure mode analysis, or a capstone project tied to safety-critical systems. Familiarity with standards like MIL-STD-882 or DO-178C gives a noticeable edge in defense and aviation hiring.
Which companies hire entry level system safety engineers?
Companies hiring entry level system safety engineers right now include Raytheon, Rolls-Royce, and Motional Ad, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Defense contractors, aerospace manufacturers, and government program offices tend to hire most actively at this level, often through campus recruiting or early-career rotational programs.
Are there remote entry level system safety engineer jobs?
Yes, though the majority of entry level system safety engineer roles are on-site given the hands-on nature of safety testing and hardware review. About 0% of entry level system safety engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at larger defense contractors and software-defined systems companies.
Are these new grad system safety engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior system safety engineer roles. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward that threshold, or explicitly accepts a strong academic portfolio in lieu of full-time work history. Look for language like "entry level," "new graduate," or "0-2 years" in the requirements.
Which industries hire the most entry level system safety engineers?
Entry Level system safety engineer roles concentrate in Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, and Aerospace & Defense, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because safety certification requirements and regulatory oversight create a steady need for junior engineers who can support analysis, documentation, and testing on complex, safety-critical programs.
