Systems Engineer Jobs in Jacksonville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a systems engineer job in Jacksonville?
Target Jacksonville's defense contracting community around Naval Air Station Jacksonville and the Mayport corridor, where systems engineers work on mission-critical infrastructure and integration projects. The Southside and Deerwood Park office clusters also concentrate IT and logistics employers. Candidates with security clearances or experience in networked systems have a clear edge locally, as do those with backgrounds in avionics, C4ISR, or enterprise IT for large government contractors.
Which companies hire systems engineers in Jacksonville?
Jacksonville systems engineer roles are posted by FIS, SS&C, and RailPros and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Jacksonville's mix of defense primes, logistics firms, and regional financial institutions means systems engineers here work across a wider range of industries than in many similarly sized cities.
Are there remote systems engineer jobs in Jacksonville?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role. Systems engineer positions involving lab work, hardware integration, or on-site government contracts are almost always on-site, while architecture, documentation, and analytical roles can go remote. About 50% of systems engineer openings tied to Jacksonville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the strongest remote options concentrated in enterprise IT and software-defined systems work rather than defense or facilities roles.
How can I get a systems engineer job in Jacksonville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Jacksonville is through junior or associate roles with defense contractors near NAS Jacksonville, many of whom recruit new graduates and offer clearance sponsorship as part of onboarding. Entry-level titles like systems analyst, junior network engineer, or IT systems technician are common stepping stones. Florida State College at Jacksonville and the University of North Florida have relationships with local employers that can open early-career doors, and internship programs at logistics and infrastructure firms on the Southside are worth targeting.
Which industries hire the most systems engineers in Jacksonville?
Most systems engineer openings in Jacksonville sit in Education, Technology & Software, and Construction & Real Estate, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Jacksonville's status as a major military hub and one of the Southeast's largest logistics centers keeps defense contracting and supply-chain technology among the most consistent sources of local demand.
