Project Engineer – Structural Engineering
The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the project manager and engineering team throughout the design and construction process. This individual will work on a diverse range of structural engineering projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, structural repairs, concrete restoration, structural assessments, feasibility studies, inspections, construction administration, milestone inspections, and peer reviews. The successful candidate should be comfortable managing multiple assignments, coordinating with project stakeholders, and prioritizing work to meet project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis, design, and preparation of calculations for residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
- Assist with new construction, renovations, additions, structural repairs, and concrete-restoration projects.
- Conduct site inspections, field investigations, structural assessments, and feasibility studies.
- Support 25-year, 30-year, milestone, and other required building inspections.
- Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, reports, repair details, and construction documents.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, and permitting authorities.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contractor proposals.
- Provide construction-administration services and perform site observations to verify general compliance with the contract documents.
- Assist with independent structural peer reviews and code-compliance evaluations.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and internal quality-control requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Four to six years of relevant structural engineering experience.
- Engineer Intern certification required; Professional Engineer license or eligibility for licensure preferred.
- Experience with structural design, existing-building evaluations, inspections, and construction administration.
- Working knowledge of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structural systems.
- Familiarity with the Florida Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and applicable local requirements.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; experience with ETABS, SAFE, Enercalc and BIM software is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform field inspections and work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
