And when you get an offer from us (and accept it), you get way more than a paycheck. Join us and we promise you the most intense and fulfilling years of your career, doing life-changing work in a fun, inventive, soulful culture. Our US hub locations include: Austin, TX; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and the Washington, DC metro area. THE OPPORTUNITY
Recruiting at BetterUp doesn’t scale on effort alone. As our hiring ambition grows, so does the need for the systems, structure, and data that make it consistent, fast, and measurable. The Talent Acquisition Operations AI Enablement Lead is the operational backbone of our TA function — and its chief builder. You’ll oversee the infrastructure that makes every recruiter on the team more effective: the automations, AI tooling, ATS workflows, and analytics that turn recruiting chaos into a repeatable, scalable system. In this role you will partner with the head of talent and talent leads to design how our tools / systems should support the overall interview process, while simultaneously shipping the AI-powered tooling that makes those processes run without friction.
Responsibilities
Tech Leadership & Strategy
- Own the recruiting tech stack — adoption, configuration, integrations, and continuous evolution across BetterUp’s current stack including Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, Zapier, Guide, Ezra, Slack, etc.
- Work with the Head of Talent to develop and execute on a strategic roadmap for recruiting operations
- Optimize and enable team around recruiting systems including ATS, scheduling and sourcing tools, and Claude that enhance recruiter effectiveness
- Drive full adoption and best-practice usage across all recruiting tools
- Build and maintain integrations between Ashby, Slack, Guide, Claude and Zapier
- Evaluate and recommend new tooling as the team scales — with a bias toward measurable ROI
- Own data hygiene and ATS configuration to ensure clean, reportable pipeline data
- Design recruiting workflows end-to-end with AI embedded where it creates genuine leverage, not just novelty
- Partner with IT, Legal, and InfoSec to establish governance frameworks that enable responsible AI scaling across the recruiting function
Data, Reporting & Insights
- Turn recruiting activity into insight — building the dashboards and metrics that give hiring managers and TA leaders real-time visibility.
- Own the TA metrics framework: time-to-fill, funnel conversion, recruiter productivity, hiring manager satisfaction and candidate experience
- Build and maintain pipeline dashboards in Ashby and connected AI tools
- Surface actionable insights from recruiting data — not just reports, but recommendations
- Support headcount planning and forecasting with reliable, auditable data
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
If you have some or all of the following, please apply:
- 8+ years of experience in talent operations, recruiting operations, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated experience owning or administering an ATS (Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, or equivalent) at an organizational level
- Experience implementing AI tooling for recruiting teams
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining integrations between HR/TA tools using automation platforms (Zapier, Make, or similar)
- Proficiency with data analysis and reporting — experience building and interpret recruiting metrics dashboards independently
- Working knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or AI-augmented workflows in a professional context
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical workflows into clear guidance for non-technical stakeholders
Technical Depth
- Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and AI-augmented workflows
- Familiarity with recruiting systems including Ashby, Guide, Ezra, LinkedIn, etc.
- Systems thinker: you consider data flows, failure states, and iteration loops
- Anticipates industry-shifting AI capabilities and positions BetterUp to leverage them ahead of competitors
- Leads enterprise-wide AI transformation initiatives that span multiple functions and business units
Recruiting Operations Fluency
- 2+ years as a full-cycle recruiter or sourcer — you’ve felt the pain of broken workflows firsthand
- Deep understanding of what great candidate experience actually requires
- Comfortable owning process design, not just executing within it
- Enough recruiting context to translate hiring manager frustration into a workflow fix without a translator in the room
Builder Mentality
- You ship small, instrument what you build, and iterate based on real usage
- You’ve built point solutions before and know the difference between a quick win and a future liability
- You approach problems user-first: recruiter experience and candidate experience are equally in scope
- When you read a problem statement, you’re already mentally prototyping the solution
