Tax Consultant Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax consultant in Arkansas?
Most Arkansas tax consultant positions require a CPA license issued through the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy, which means passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting the board's education and experience requirements. A bachelor's degree in accounting with sufficient credit hours in accounting and business courses is the standard starting point. Some employers also accept candidates who hold an Enrolled Agent credential issued by the IRS, particularly for individual and small-business tax work.
How much do tax consultants make in Arkansas?
Tax consultants in Arkansas earn a median of about $35,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $28,990 for the lowest 10% to over $66,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax consultants in Arkansas?
Arkansas tax consultant roles are posted by Walmart, AdamsBrown, and KPMG and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arkansas's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters in Northwest Arkansas and large financial and legal firms in Little Rock creates consistent demand across both corporate and public accounting settings.
Which Arkansas cities have the most tax consultant jobs?
Bentonville, Little Rock, and Jonesboro account for the largest share of tax consultant openings in Arkansas. Little Rock drives volume through its concentration of law firms, regional CPA practices, and state government-related tax work, while Northwest Arkansas draws heavily from the corporate tax departments of major retail and logistics headquarters anchored in the Bentonville and Fayetteville corridor.
Are there remote tax consultant jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 31% of tax consultant openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and document-driven nature of most tax work. Research, return preparation, and client advisory tasks are the functions most commonly performed remotely, while client onboarding and audit-support roles are more likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a tax consultant in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a staff tax associate or junior accountant role at a regional CPA firm in Little Rock or the Northwest Arkansas corridor, where firms regularly hire recent graduates. Sitting for the CPA exam or earning an Enrolled Agent designation while working gives candidates a meaningful edge. Lateral moves from bookkeeping, payroll, or accounts payable roles at Arkansas employers are also a common bridge into entry-level tax consulting work.
Where can I find and apply to tax consultant jobs in Arkansas?
You can find and apply to tax consultant jobs in Arkansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that match your experience.
