Tax Intern Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax intern in Kansas?
Tax internships in Kansas do not require a state-issued license, but employers expect you to be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field at a Kansas institution such as the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, or Wichita State University. Most firms recruit during fall campus events and prefer candidates who have completed at least one tax course. Pursuing CPA-track credits early strengthens your application significantly.
Which companies hire tax interns in Kansas?
Employers hiring tax interns in Kansas right now include H&R Block, Intuit, and AdamsBrown, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's large corporate headquarters, regional public accounting offices, and financial services companies are the most consistent sources of recurring tax intern openings year over year.
Which Kansas cities have the most tax intern jobs?
The Kansas cities with the most tax intern openings are Topeka, Overland Park, and Wichita. Wichita anchors the market through its concentration of manufacturing-sector corporate tax departments and mid-size accounting firms, while Overland Park and the Kansas City metro draw openings from large financial services firms and national accounting practice offices that serve the broader bistate region.
Are there remote tax intern jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most entry-level roles, since tax work is document-driven and can move online. About 21% of tax intern openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in the accounting sector. Federal and state individual return preparation tasks are the most commonly handled fully remote, while audit-support rotations within internship programs typically require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a tax intern in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through your university's accounting department recruiting program before you have any paid tax experience. Kansas State University, Wichita State, and the University of Kansas all host firm recruiting events where Big Four and regional firms like Adams Brown hire first-year interns with no prior professional experience. Volunteering through the IRS VITA program in Kansas builds verifiable tax prep skills that employers recognize on a resume.
Where can I find and apply to tax intern jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to tax intern jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kansas openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your availability and program focus, and apply directly to each employer. No signup is needed to search or view the available positions.
